WHAT DOES A SCHOLARSHIP OFFER?
11+, 13+ and 16+ Scholarships at Shebbear College consist of a Talent Development
Allowance (a sum of money to be put towards opportunities that will enhance the Scholar’s particular area of excellence) and access to our Scholars’ Masterclasses - rather than a reduction in the school fees.

Scholars’ Masterclasses
As well as the prestige of being a scholar, our Masterclasses provide our Scholars with a range of curriculum enrichment and extension opportunities throughout the year, including sessions with external speakers, workshops with professionals in their field and enrichment trips and visits.

Scholars will attend four masterclasses a year - two in the Michaelmas term, one in the Lent term and one in the Trinity term, as well as a Scholars’ Dinner held at the end of each academic year.
Leadership opportunities such as working with younger pupils and running sessions in their area of expertise will also be offered throughout the year. Scholars will attend regular sessions with the Head of Faculty and the Head to discuss ideas and help shape the future of their area of expertise.
Scholars’ Ties
All pupils with a Scholarship are awarded a special Scholars’ tie, which should be worn every day instead of the normal school tie, enabling staff and other pupils to identify them. We hope that our Scholars will wear these with pride!
