A Letter From the President Wow, what is left to say as we head into the last four months of the year? The Chamber has been very busy bringing new and innovative approaches for ways of celebrating and honoring members in ways we never would have imagined. I give the Chamber staff praise and kudos for continuing to develop Martha VandeLeest new opportunities to serve our members. It is exciting that there will still be a “Brat Fry” even though the staff had to alter it as a drive-thru venue this year. It shows that “Brat Frys” in Sheboygan County will NEVER end. What a great way to let our members know how much they are all appreciated even during these challenging times. I hope you continue to enjoy, learn and network together, through the brat fry drive-thru, roundtables, golf outing or the many other chamber opportunities in September.

In 2019, September was designated as National Workforce Development Month, in a bipartisan resolution passed by the Senate. In honor of National Workforce Development month, we are pleased to announce the lineup of speakers for our annual Workforce Development Symposium on Tuesday, September 29th. 2020 has been an interesting year, full of chaos and

FROM THE DESK OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CONTINUED confusion. As we look to move forward through this time, it is important to bring community members together, to take a look at the economic state of our communities and discuss the needs of employers and educators alike. This event will take place virtually and you must register in advance to participate. Please click here to learn more. We’d like to continue on this path of celebrating successes and we need your help. Each year we celebrate Athena Leadership nominees and winners and despite the craziness, this year will be no different. Nominations are now open, click here to nominate someone today. *Did you know, the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce has sold more than $300,000 in Chamber Cash during the first 8 months of the year. Have you received some? This is an opportunity to inject over a half a million dollars into our local economy, especially small businesses. If you got ‘em, get out and spend ‘em!
Molly, Coastal YPN Liason Happy September Coastal Nation! It is crazy how in a blink of an eye, we are now into September and Fall is almost here! We are excited to have some normalcy back into our lives here at the Chamber. We have been very creative and revamped our Sheboygan County Best Under 40 Event to hold our nominees in the Chamber office to celebrate them as they deserved. Here are a few shots of how we transformed the conference room into a room fit for our Best Under 40 nominees and winners.

We are still looking to reschedule a number of our earlier events and will be in contact with all members involved. Business After Hours for 2020 is still fluid and although we have had many cancelations, 2021 is beginning to fill up. We doubled up several months this year, and will do so for 2021, but don’t wait. Give me a call at (920) 395-8705 to schedule your BAH today! Some things to think about as we move through the last four months of 2020: • If you haven’t joined a Deep Dive yet, there are still openings for all groups. Continue 2020 by engaging with other members of the chamber from various business sectors. Health care, real estate, banking, insurance, painting and staining, attorneys, and many others are represented by exceptional people living in your county. Join a family of Deep Divers today! • Roundtables are a terrific way to meet others within your business sector. Whether it’s Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, Not for Profit, and others, you’re sure to learn something from your peers. These peer-to-peer networking groups can help any one of your employees, or yourself, accelerate your learning curve, and minimize potential setbacks within your organization. Our own John Rogers does an outstanding job keeping each group on task, and always shares his own wealth of knowledge. Contact john@sheboygan.org and join a Roundtable today! • Our Young Professionals network goal is to attract, engage and retain young, diverse talent to Sheboygan County by providing opportunities for young professionals to design their social culture, serve as civic innovators and community stewards, and develop into the next generation of leaders for Sheboygan County. If you are interested in joining the YP network, please contact Molly Talaska at molly@sheboygan.org. Please remember to support our smalls businesses, restaurants, salons and many others that have been hit hard by this pandemic. They are in dire need of our business. Shop local, and stay healthy, because we are so much #BETTERTOGETHER! See you all soon!
