Sheboygan County Best Under 40 Awards
“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” - Marie Curie Yay for May! Here’s hoping for warmer temps and sunnier days! April was a busy month for the Chamber team, we wrapped up Explore Your Future, are preparing for Leadership Sheboygan County Graduation and of course preparing for a wonderful Sheboygan Deidre Martinez County Best Under 40 celebration. The Chamber team and some of our Ambassadors also participated in team building while volunteering time with our friends at RCS Empowers, it was a lot of fun and great way to connect outside of the office. These opportunities are so important in Leadership and I hope to encourage all of you to find ways to connect with your teams on a more personal level.

Last month I also mentioned new programming. I am thrilled to share, that we have a small team led by Corey King, Division of University Inclusivity & Student Affairs, UW Green Bay on diversity, equity, inclusivity and belonging initiatives. We know these issues are important to the health and well-being of our communities and as employers, we know the significance of attracting workforce to the area to fill the needs of your businesses. It all starts with us and we are committed to ensuring Sheboygan County is a welcoming place for all people. We’ve learned a lot about change over the past year and the unknown can certainly be scary. If we open ourselves up to understanding, we can find a greater level of success and experience less fear. This Spring let us embrace change on a higher level, we might even have fun while doing it. The Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce is committed to providing value to our members, increasing economic vitality and the well-being of the business climate in Sheboygan County through, providing opportunities in Professional Development, Relationship Building, Governmental Affairs, Workforce Development and Young Professional Development. We are truly Better Together!

As we move into June, our programming this Summer is going to be a little different from years past. We are combining all Young Professionals events with our Better Together Intern and Co-op Program for this Summer. We have a group of 200 interns and co-ops participating in the program this year, so our goal is to combine the programs so the interns and co-ops can mix and mingle with our current young professionals to help show off the wonderful things that Sheboygan County has to offer. If you have any interns that you would like to sign up for this program, please contact me and I will help in any way possible. Looking forward to an exciting May, and the warm weather that will hopefully continue!

News from THE DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Last month I wrote Explore Your Future was coming into focus. Even though it was quite different than year’s gone by, it clearly came into focus and was quite a success! During the week of April 12th, we were at Sheboygan Falls High School and listened to speakers in-person and via Zoom. The following week of April 19th we were at Lutheran High School, and once again heard from speakers live and via Zoom, all of which were attended by sophomore students. All speakers, videos and links can be found at 2021 Explore Your Future. Special thanks to our Platinum presenting sponsor Acuity Insurance, our Presenting Sponsor Masters Gallery, and our Champion Sponsors: Gabe’s, Johnsonville, Rockline, Sargento and Van Horn.
