The magic of Shelburne Farms There’s something about this place. Maybe it’s the breathtaking beauty, powerful programs, and our commitment to sustainability. Whatever moves you about Shelburne Farms, we hope that our products bring it back for you, and remind you that you’re supporting an organization that works every day to inspire and create a sustainable future.

Welcome to Shelburne Farms We are a unique nonprofit organization educating for a sustainable future. When you purchase our cheddar or other offerings, you become a part of this work. It’s not only because our products are sustainably produced, whether here or on partner farms. And it’s not just because your purchase makes possible our education programs and outreach. It’s that the success of our mission rests on the backbone of this and other working farms.

From Sun to Cheese

Pastures with purpose Nurturing the health of our soils, pastures, and cows is vital to our mission, and it’s expressed in the cheddar you enjoy. Our farming practices make the lessons we teach about sustainability more genuine. Real. And that much more compelling. What does sustainability look like? What can it be? You can see it in the story of how we transform the sun’s energy into cheese. Then you can taste it!

Pure Vermont maple syrup Maple sugaring is a cornerstone of Vermont’s working landscape. It generates an amazing all-natural sweetener and is part of the sweep of the great Northern Forest, which plays a valuable role in global carbon sequestration. The pure Vermont maple syrup we sell is selected from the best sugarmakers in the state and bottled for us by the Marvin family’s Butternut Mountain Farm in nearby Morrisville.
