CHAMBER NETWORKING MIXER TIPS The many P’s of selling

Helen Dean Program & Communcations

P is for Passion — Are you fired up about your Product/Service? If you aren’t, nobody else will be either. Create a sense of excitement about your product or service. Your passion for your product catches on!

P is for Product Knowledge and being Prepared — Know what you sell. Study your product or service. Knowledge is power – the power to sell your product or service. Know your product inside and out. You don’t want to be asked a question about your product and not know enough about to answer your customer’s questions. Consider what is first, unique, best and only about your product or service. Those characteristics differentiate you from your competition. Most importantly, analyze how your clients can benefit from your services and why they should choose you over someone else. Who can this product or service benefit or help? P is for Positive — It is so easy in this hard economic time to become discouraged. STAY POSITIVE. Approach every customer with the attitude that it will result in a sale and a great experience! “Positive thinking won’t let you do anything but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” -Zig Zigglar P is for Pricing — Look in the market for similar products that you sell. Make sure you examine your pricing often to make sure you are not pricing yourself out of the market – too high or too low. But remember, you never want to compete on just pricing. P is for Promotion — Consider a newsletter to let your customers know of any new products or services you offer. It is a great way for your business to stay in front of the customer. Consider Facebook and Twitter free product promotion of a new or existing product or service. P is for Partnership — You have a great partner with your Chamber of Commerce. We connect you with your local community by promoting your business through advertising, promotion and referral services, we offering great networking opportunities, and we provide one on one customer service for your business needs.

On behalf of the residents of Chelsea, let me welcome you to the “Number One Traditional Family City in the State of Alabama.” We are very proud of the heritage and traditions of our fast growing city. The residential community has experienced construction of over 3,000 new homes since the last census. Our 2000 Census population of 2,949 has grown to 9,000. This growth brings exciting new opportunities to Chelsea. Increased population brings commercial shopping conveniences for our city. Increased commercial areas attract more residential development. The city is strengthened by the commitment made by its citizens to support our area businesses which in turn make our city stronger by providing the funding for city services. Chelsea schools are part of the excellent Shelby County School System. Over the past eleven years, the City of Chelsea has donated over $900,000 for local classroom support. Chelsea Recreational Park provides activity for the entire family. A children’s playground, nature walking trail, soccer field, softball complex, youth football field, and a picnic pavilion are available for all ages. Chelsea is proud of its senior center and has just expanded its library both offering many services. Public safety is very important in Chelsea. We have a first class fire and rescue department with eight firemen on duty each day, seven days a week. We contract with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department for four deputies for law enforcement. In Chelsea, our slogan is, “It’s All About Family”. Come be part of our family. We offer the charm and convenience that will create a desire for you to want to call Chelsea home.
