Chamber’s 33rd Annual Meeting Scheduled for January 29 The Chamber’s Annual Meeting, scheduled for January 29 will celebrate the past year’s accomplishments under 2013 Chair David Nolen’s leadership and kick-off the new year of programs and activities under 2014 Chamber Chair Bill Keller’s leadership.
The event will be held at the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena Center with doors opening at 11:00AM and the program beginning at 11:30AM. A limited number of tickets for $20 per person for Chamber members ($30 for

She has been involved with the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce for more than 15 years, Leadership Shelby County Alumni, Co-Chair of The Shelby County YMCA Board (Pelham) and attends Kingwood Church. 4 Greater Shelby Annual Safety Awards The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Safety Awards Program at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena on October 30. The program acknowledged the excellent service which departments of public safety provide to Shelby County communities by honoring the people who diligently work to ensure the safety of its citizens. “We were honored to recognize the outstanding achievement and to express our appreciation to the fire and police
departments throughout Shelby County.” Chamber President & CEO Kirk Mancer commented. “Not only does this raise the awareness of public safety, but it also provides positive attention to one of the qualities that makes Shelby County an even better place to live and do business. As chair of the Healthcare Services Committee, I have come to realize no matter with which hospital or healthcare facility you are affiliated, we must work together to maintain the highest standards and achieve the ultimate goal of quality patient care. Education is the key for doing just that and our goal for the committee is to provide access and information to Chamber members so you can be informed and aware of your options in the healthcare marketplace. Healthcare affects each and every one of us at
some point and in turn affects our businesses. The more you know, the better decisions you can make. While the law makers battle out the rules and regulations, we have to take personal responsibility for our healthcare. Making better food choices, getting regular exercise and seeing your primary care physician annually are all part of a healthy lifestyle. Education can lead to prevention, which is always the best option. As you reminisce over the last year and look forward to 2014, let me encourage you to take
your healthcare seriously. Ask questions and utilize your resources. Make a plan for your life that encompasses healthy actions. By all means, reach out to your Healthcare Services Committee and get involved. We all have the ability to maintain and improve our health. Ring-In the Holiday Season with Dec. 17 Business After Hours Shelby County’s premier business networking event has a “holiday” theme this month and Chamber members from the Calera, Greater Shelby, Montevallo and South Shelby Chambers are invited to “celebrate the season” at the next Business After Hours event presented by Shelby County Newspapers. What’s more, Jolly Old St. Nick himself – sponsored by Associa McKay Management
– will be there to ensure everyone’s Christmas list is received.
