Players: Willie Simpson, Darian Johnson, Xavier Lacey, Qadash Williams, Ray Foushee, Trey Hurst, Kenny Meadows and Justin Brooks

Season Outlook: The Lions should make a run at an appearance in the Class 5A Central Region tournament with a veteran squad. Jason Laatsch, one of the best 3-point shooters around, and Devin Bowman will each play a key role in the backcourt. Nathan Fincher can contribute on the perimeter and in the frontcourt. Canon Smith is a force in the paint.

Season Outlook: The Eagles nearly reached the Class 4A Final Four a year ago. Calera should have even better odds this season with four returning starters, including guard Deondre Haynes, one of the top basketball prospects in the state. Haynes will be joined by Eric McCord and Ronnie Clark on the perimeter. Jeremy Hyde and Titus Adams are tough to defend down low.

Season Outlook: The Hornets willl likely take a step closer to the postseason with several starters returning, including do-it-all senior Jake Ganus. Dantavius Washington and Julius McCall will be tasked with providing scoring on the perimeter. Garrett Payne is the tallest player on the roster and will need to provide a presence in the frontcourt for the Hornets.

Season Outlook: Indian Springs will be in a transition mode this season with the loss of its top two scorers. Stephen Himic and Reeves Duggan will have to play a bigger role if the team has a chance to reach the postseason. Maurice Pompey is back in the frontcourt after seeing plenty of playing time last season for Indian Springs, which will need a few newcomers to step up.

Season Outlook: The Bulldogs will feature a nice inside-outside combination in guard Garrius Chappell and forward Korey Cunningham. Chappell can drive to the basket with ease, while Cunningham is a beast at cleaning up the board underneath the basket. Montevallo will need a few other players to step up in the backcourt and frontcourt to complement the duo.

Season Outlook: The Eagles will need a few players to step up in order to contend for a postseason bid. Chris Marino is back after playing a key role in the backcourt for Oak Mountain a year ago. Graham McArthur also saw playing time last season. Jordan Pierce and Scott Hester will be tasked with providing scoring and rebounding in the paint for the Eagles.

Season Outlook: The Panthers reached the postseason for the first time in more than a decade last season. Pelham has the potential to be a playoff team once again with senior guard Xavier Lacey returning in the backcourt. Justin Brooks will need to step up at point guard. Qadash Williams saw plenty of playing time last season and will need to step up in the frontcourt.

Players: Logan Bean, Jacob Bussey, Tyler Capps, Landon Davenport, Daniel Fillingim, Montez Haynes, Justin Pinkerton, Josh Purvis, Charles Robinson, Jared Stewart, Gavin Sumrall, Jordan Vance, Andrew Whitfield, Montez Haynes and Seth Mills

Season Outlook: The Wildcats will need to fill a few holes in the backcourt. However, few opponents have an answer for Tyler Madison in the frontcourt. Madison continues to develop his impressive skills year after year. Denzel Williams, who missed part of last season with an injury, and Josh Pennington will need to help out on the perimeter to take pressure off Madison.

Season Outlook: The Jaguars should have a chance to return to the Class 6A Northeast Region tournament with point guard Robby Prater and scorer Rembert Martin returning in the backcourt. Spain Park will need a few players to step up in the frontcourt. Blake Dudchock, who saw playing time last season, is a likely candidate to provide scoring and rebounding in the paint.

Season Outlook: The Warriors had a disappointing end to a spectacular regular season a year ago. Thompson should make a run at reaching the Class 6A Northeast Region tournament this season with guard Demarcus Threatt and forward Jaylon Jones returning. The teammates can take over a game at times. Kenny Nabors will need to step up and provide a bigger presence in the paint for the Warriors.

Season Outlook: The Yellow Jackets will need to replace its two best players from last season’s squad, which nearly reached the Class 2A Final Four. Dontravious Moon, who had a great run in the postseason, and Anterio Rogers each saw extensive playing time last season and will need to step up in the backcourt. Vincent will need a few players to step up in the frontcourt.

Season Outlook: The Rebels will need a few players to step up if they hope to return to the Elite Eight again this season. Steven Cryer and Hunter Winslett each saw plenty of playing time last season and will be tasked with providing a scoring threat for Coosa Valley. The Rebels will need a few players to step up and provide a presence in the frontcourt.

Season Outlook: The Chargers will be led by senior guard Kendall Moore, a prolific offensive threat and school’s all-time leading scorer. Cornerstone Christian should be in good shape for a run in the postseason with a six-man senior class. Seniors Clayton Halbert and Auston Wingard are back after playing a key role last season and will be a scoring and rebounding force in the paint.

Season Outlook: The Lions should be in good shape in the backcourt with Montez Haynes and Charles Robinson each providing a scoring threat. Kingwood Christian will need a few players to step up in the paint. Jacob Bussey, a starting offensive lineman on the football team, is a likely candidate to provide scoring and rebounding in the frontcourt.
