2021 SC Diamond Awards The Shelby County Chamber is now accepting nominations for the annual “Shelby County Diamond Awards” program. The annual Diamond Awards are designed to honor those organizations and individuals who help make Shelby County the best place to live and do business in our state. Nominations are open to the public. The nominee, or the person submitting the nomination, does not have to be an investor with The Shelby County Chamber. Nominees will be judged on both the quality and quantity of materials used to substantiate the award nomination. Categories to be recognized in 2021 include: “Non-Profit Organization of the Year” Category, “Public Servant of the Year” Category and “Citizen of the Year” Category. There will be one recipient recognized in each of the categories: “Non-Profit”, “Public Servant” and “Citizen of the Year”. Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria: u how the organization -- or individual -- has made a positive difference in the County or a specific municipality, u significant accomplishments achieved by the organization or individual, and

u how the organization -- or individual -- has improved the County or a specific municipality. In order to qualify. the nominated organization or individual should meet any one of the following: operates in Shelby County, works in Shelby County, lives in Shelby County Nomination packets are available online at www.shelbychamber.org, or by contacting The Shelby County Chamber by phone at 205-663-4542, or e-mail at info@shelbyhamber.org . The completed Nomination Packet must be received (to allow for judging) by no later than 5:00PM on October 13. All nominees, and the recipients in each category, will be recognized during a “Shelby County Diamond Awards Program” Luncheon scheduled for Thursday, November 4 at the Grande Hall in the Old Mill Square facility in Columbiana. The program will be from 11:30AM – 1:00PM that day.

Celebrate Tourism and Recreation Join us for the October Chamber Connections Luncheon, scheduled for October 7 featuring the Tourism and Recreation All Star Awards followed by comments from Kendall Williams, Manager of Tourism and Events for Shelby County. Annual “State of the County” Presentation The Chamber’s October “Community Luncheon” hosted by the Governmental Affairs Work Group will feature a “State of the County” presentation on October 27. The meeting, presented by Express Employment Professionals, will be held at the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena. Doors will open at 11:00AM for business networking. The program will begin promptly at 11:30AM. In addition to the great business networking, we’ll also hear from Shelby County Manager Chad Scroggins on the progress made last year and what’s in store for Shelby County in 2022. The cost is $20 per person for Chamber investors and $30 per person for “Future” investors and includes lunch. The Shelby County Chamber and 58 INC, Shelby County’s economic development corporation, hosted the 9th annual “Industry Appreciation Reception” September 23rd at Inver-

ness Country Club. The event highlighted local business owners, companies and representatives for their work in growing the Shelby County economy and

providing local educators insight into career pathways available to students. The night also served as an opportunity for local organizations to network with businesses.
