Peg Hill Shelby County Board of Education

Sherry Stanford Columbiana Community Resident Local Favorites: “Everyone is so nice, like I am part of the family.” I once read an article that quoted a man moving to the south from the north that stated “Living in Alabama is like living on a front porch, you are always welcomed to sit down and you are always offered some sweet tea and you always accept it and say thank you!” Dr. Robbie Hayes Shelby County Commission Local Favorites: “Christmas time with family!” Favorite Locals: My family, my patients and my staff! Mayor Rosemary Liveoak Town of Wilsonville “Here are a few of my local favorites: How can you not get excited when all the bright lights and pole decorations go up and the wreaths with big red bows are hung? I especially love the drive down Hwy 25 with the lighted snowflakes and Christmas trees on every pole. As I walk the halls at school, I check out the Santa Pictures and read the “Wish Lists”. I am always checking to be sure that my name doesn’t appear on the “Naughty List”! You can hear the soft bells jingling from shoe laces, and the Christmas designed sweaters, T-shirts and hair bows start appearing. The smiles from everyone’s face starts getting bigger and bigger as the holidays get closer.” Favorite Locals would have to include: The Christmas Bazaar at the Methodist Church. I look forward to having some of the “Best” cakes, pies, breads and cookies that the ladies in our community offers along with the arts and craft vendors. But the best sure sign that Christmas is just around the corner in my home town is when you pull into Paul’s BP and you hear a familiar voice say, “ Rosie, here is your New Year’s Calendar.” I can’t wait to see what picture theme is featured this year.
