But, his stance, history on education, unions, minimum wage, and other issues really bother me.” mdickw, via Reddit: “Well, it’s certainly testament to how mediocre Quinn has been. I am hopeful that our state legislators will keep him in check... .”
Ticket sales at the Chick Evans Field House weren’t doing well for a Bob Dylan concert scheduled for Nov. 6, 1990, according to a Northern Star article from that day. Ticket sales started Oct. 12, but less than half the tickets for the 5,000 seats in the Chick Evans Field House were sold by Nov. 5, said Kris Trimarco, University Programming and Activities ticket manager. Dylan was paid $27,250 for performing at NIU. The concert committee anticipated losing
$20,000 through advertising, field house rental and stage crew costs. Tickets were $13.50 for students and $16.50 for non-students, according to the article. “We thought it would sell out totally,” said concert coordinator Traci Leach. Dylan sold out similar campus concerts in Milwaukee and Iowa, Leach said, according to the article. The concert committee received $33,525 from student fees for the 1990-91 school year. Leach said the
committee’s budget would cover the loss from the Dylan show, but it probably wouldn’t be able to fund anything except small acts in the Holmes Student Center’s Diversions Lounge for the remainder of the year, according to the article. Campus Activities Board advertised the concert in Madison, Rockford and some Chicago suburbs, according to the article. “It’s frustrating. I refuse to say that we made a bad decision,” said Leach, according to the article.
