Creating Citations

Page 1

How to Cite Online Resources Give credit where credit is due! Every time you gather information, video clips, images or sounds, you must give credit to the person who created it. This is called a bibliography.

Q: Why should I cite my resources? A: Just as people shouldn't go about life taking things from others without asking, you shouldn't take images, sounds and/or words from the online work of others without giving them credit. Plus, your teachers will need to know WHERE you found your information. If you don't cite your sources, you may have to re-do your assignment...or worse!

Q: When should I cite my resources? 1. Any time you Copy and Paste text from the Web. * Always use "Quotes" around ANY text that you Copy/Paste directly from the Web!! 2. Any time you gather information from the Web, even if it's written in your own words. 3. Any time you use a picture, sounds, or video clips from the Web.
