OPEN ENROLLMENT

T

his is the time of year when Shell Point renews all group insurance including health, dental, life and long-term disability as well as voluntary benefits such as short-term disability, accident and hospital indemnity. This year, we have made the decision not to make any changes to any of the group or voluntary insurance plans. We have done this so that you have one less worry on your plate during this challenging time. You will not have to go to the benefits enrollment site, won’t have to choose a new plan and you will not have an increase in premium for the insurance selections you have now. This is another way for Shell Point to show how much we care about you and the challenges you may be facing at this time. What does this mean? If you want to keep all of your current group and/or insurance coverage as it is today, you don’t have to do anything. All of your current coverage will carry over to the plan year

that begins on July 1, 2020. But – if you want or need to make any changes to your insurance coverage such as switching health plans, adding/dropping coverage, adding/dropping a dependent or spouse, or increasing life insurance coverage, you must log in through Paycor between May 18th and May 31st. Select “Benefits” under the “Me” tab on your home screen. All changes will be effective on July 1st. Again, if you do nothing, your current coverage will remain unchanged when the new plan year begins on July 1, 2020. We are pleased to be in a position to offer the same benefits package for this coming plan year. Should you have any questions, please contact Human Resources at 454-2162. These times of uncertainty can be difficult. It’s important that you know that Shell Point has your back! We wanted to make you aware of several benefit offerings available to you during this time.

COVID-19 Week

I

n April 2020, during the coronavirus healthcare crisis, Shell Point’s human resources department launched a week-long initiative, to provide an opportunity for staff to let loose, have fun and get creative. Each day, employees got the chance to dress in a themed attire and show off their inspired looks. On Monday, “crazy socks” were seen throughout the hallways and sidewalks of Shell Point. Many staff members put

their best foot forward with unique patterns and bright colored pairs! On Tuesday, staff members put a cap on Covid-19 with a fun-themed “hat day!” From tea party to Western cowboy, employees from a variety of departments dawned their finest caps. On Wednesday, things took a bright turn with the bold theme of “Neon-No Covid-19 More!” Hot pinks,

lime greens and highlighter yellow were a few of the lively colors seen sprinkled throughout the buildings! On Thursday, Shell Point staff wore their “fighting colors” with a red-themed day to help spread awareness to stop the spread of Covid-19. On Friday, the week came to an end with a festive Hawaiian-themed day. Staff members said “Aloha” to Covid-19 with tropical prints and accessories.

APPRECIATION STATION

THANK YOU!

O

ver the last few weeks the staff and residents have come together to find ways to appreciate each other’s service during this unprecedented time in our lives. During the month of April several noteworthy events took place to show gratitude and appreciation for all staff members. The Human Resources and Resident Life departments both hosted a series of events to put a smile on all of our faces!

Taking Home the Bacon To thank its employees for their hard work and dedication on the job, Shell Point recently gifted each staff member with an Easter ham. The “Ham Toss” took place at the Coastal Commons on Thursday, April 9, and was certainly appreciated by all of the employees.

Food Pantry Distribution Sometimes there just aren’t enough ways to say “thank you.” One way the Shell Point management team said thank you to all staff members was by hosting a food pantry distribution. Directors and managers manned their stations as they facilitated a contactless drive-in food pantry. Shell Point staff lined up at the Coastal Commons where team members placed bags of groceries in their trunks. Each employee was provided with paper towels, toilet paper, pasta, cereal,

canned soups, rice, beans, potatoes, apples and carrots!

An Attitude of Gratitude The role of the Resident Life department is to provide entertainment and activities to keep residents engaged and as active as they can possibly be, but this time they partnered with residents to support our employees. Volunteer Coordinator, Carol Sperlak, organized stations in the Island Commons for residents to stop by and share words of appreciation and encouragement to the Shell Point staff who serve them so well. Residents shared personal thoughts and thankfulness to let the wonderful staff know that they appreciate all they are doing during this time of social distancing and self-isolation. Carol and Jim Clark, employee chaplain, have been

collecting the cards throughout the last several weeks and will be distributing them to departments to be shared with so many incredible employees. We hope these cards give you the encouragement you need to continue to care, serve, and satisfy our residents to the best of your ability.
