Used the magic wand tool to select different sections and coloured in using the fill tool. Created different tones of the same colour by changing to a different shade of grey on the colour picker. Helps you to visualise if you’re going to be working with different tints for Screenprint. Changed the colour of the whole image after working on it by double clicking on the green spot channel and choosing the colour I wanted. Still kept all of the different tones I used originally.
You can see what the different tones will look like in greyscale (to make positives for printing) by making the Gray layer invisible. You can then use this to take into Illustrator to create Half-tones.
File and save as PSD, open file in Illustrator (place file). Go to Window, select Separations Preview option. Tick Overprint Preview option. Then untick the CMYK to see spot colour preview.
File – Print. Click Output option and change Mode to Separations. Unclick all other document inks apart from spot colour to show preview. Change Frequency to create halftones. The lower the frequency, the more obvious the halftone.
Select all grey tones- Copy. Make new document (same size) Paste. Image – Mode – Bitmap – Flatten. Pops up withHalftone Screen. Then allows you to change the Frequency in order to see a quick preview.
You can change the shape of the halftone dots in this dropdown menu. Change Frequency to 60/65 for a smoother, finer halftone.
