Promotion is what creates and builds the buzz, empowerment is the motivation
In addition to a broad array of media placements, Shelterhouse Midland Restaurant Week organizers will aggressively seek out editorial opportunities through the same channels including radio shows, TV news segments, newspaper articles, and more. A dynamic and interactive website, www.MidlandRestaurantWeek.com, serves as the hub of information for those interested in dining out, featuring all participating Restaurants, Cafes, and Bars, a virtual silent auction, and more.
Social media is key both before and during the promotion, as those dining can tag photos of their meals which will be shared across social media platforms.

AN INFORMED STAFF IS KEY TO SUCCESS, SO HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
WHAT IS MIDLAND RESTAURANT WEEK?
For 8 days (April 22 April 29), local restaurants, cafes, and bars will promote special menus, offerings, great deals, and unique food themed events
Diners use passports By collecting stamps from the participating restaurants, cafes, and bars, they will be entered to win prizes, including restaurant gift cards yes, you read that right!
IMPORTANT Passport Program:
PASSPORTS are available for download at wwwmidlandrestaurantweek com
Promote these to everyone you possibly can who is interested The goal is for customers to visit 8 participating restaurants and cafes between April 22 29, to be eligible to win amazing local prizes.
Diners turn passports in to Shelterhouse or the Shelterhouse Resale Shop by May 6 to be eligible for the contests.
When the customer shows their passport, you simply STAMP or SIGN one of the 6 spots on the passport to validate the customer visited your place So basically, the customer could purchase the Restaurant Week menu items, any other item off your menu, or just come in to say hi and they would be able to get a stamp If in doubt, stamp it! The only reason you wouldn’t stamp a passport is if they already had your stamp Each restaurant, cafe, and bar can only stamp a passport once
Endorse the passport, in the same way, each time, with a certain stamp, special color marker, symbol, or initials of some kind to help stop forgery
Each person dining should have their own passport (do not stamp the same passport 4 times for a table of 4, stamp 4 INDIVIDUAL passports so each person can enter the contest.)
TIPS FOR RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES: KNOW YOUR OFFER & PROGRAM DETAILS
ALL employees need to be aware of what your restaurant/cafe/bar is offering and be ready to discuss it with customers It might be a special extra menu, special pricing, add ons, or other cool stuff Hold training sessions with employees, hang this flier, have a group meeting, anything that works for your establishment to get this information to all employees
Don’t forget to hang your Shelterhouse Midland Restaurant Week poster and set out the table tents so people know you are a participating restaurant.
Having a special menu printed or writing your offer on your special boards would be great! Making sure your offer is visible to diners is important
TALK IT UP & PROMOTE
Before and during Shelterhouse Midland Restaurant Week, be sure to build the buzz and talk with customers about your special offer or menu and invite them to buy a passport and come back for it
Make sure you post about it on social media and in any emails or newsletters Whatever means you have to spread the word, use it! Visit www.midlandresturauntweek.org for access to a digital participant badge and Facebook cover image
