CONCEPTS

MADE IN CONNECTIONS: A corridor, staircase, railway, entrance, and exit or any other sort of connection in an architectural or urban space, can be the base of different activities. In other words, a connection point can be presented as an architectural multi-functional complex. In today’s society we spend a big amount of our daily time in infrastructures and connections.

A modern human no longer hides stairs and corridors in dark corners but it is to be shown and done appreciated because of the value which it has got. Let us take another step further, let us be friends with them, have a stop, enjoy and use the best of them as a city is a connection between individuals.

COMPLEXITY AND FUNCTIONAL EFFICIENCY: There are cities all around the world which their citizens and visitors suffer from lack of free space and everyone is looking for a way to broaden his/her activities and ownership of space. Paris is a very good example. In these places one of the most important architectural aspects to consider is not only to increase comfort but also to solve as many functions and needs as possible. This is a feature that one can not name it with routine single words for spaces. DIAGRAM NO.1

GENERAL DESIGN 0

The general design of the master plan is made based on dividing the length to 5 different elements considering the context capacity and needed functions and connections. The elements are 2 staircases, a bar, planting maintenance, indoor performance hall and urban agriculture units. Main elements are 2 staircases that connect urban fabric level to the underground railway to expose better public accessibility. Also the other parts are explained in their section briefly.

The first and the most important element of the project is mainly made of a staircase bringing the users to the access level of the existing historical railway. Diagonally arranged seats are available from the main staircase, viewpoints, table area that serves La Recyclerie, energy saver roofs, and access to the indoor performance hall, are the main space qualities in this part.

In the existing situation, there is a bar under the narrow staircase and it almost does not make sense since it is very close to the main bar (La Recyclerie). in the design phase, a bar has been made to serve equally to both endings of the project (in the center). also the mid-height green area which is not accessible at the moment is considered to be maintained, so a staircase with a small equipment room on the mid-height has been added for the keepers of Jordin du Ruisseau.

The railways are usually on a lower level from platforms, which makes it a perfect space to be filled by soil and be used for the agricultural uses. In this case, agricultural units have been designed as modular boxes that can be extended on any points of the railway that faces the opposite to the public space and has the same considered width. These units can be used for outdoor farming or in case of a greenhouse, they can be covered by light air-filled recycled plastic domes.

Now its the time for a new step further, robots are taking over our world, people expect their needs to be satisfied by one click, but these needs are mostly made of goods and objects. How a company with such a wide category of services can serve people its best? Amazon needs to live inside their cities, knock their doors and deliver in some moments whatever are their needs.

Madrid Norte is a new generation of the urban fabric of Madrid. It is identified as a business center with different daily activities and in it. Plaza Castilla contains a high density of connections to the city with a center for public transportation. The current situation of the building is abandoned without maintenance and after the fascism era this building had only been used officially for temporary exhibitions. Looking through its architectural style and the heavy historical atmosphere of the place is easily recognizable and interesting to carve. The interior as well is not in a very good situation but most of the furnitures are still there. This features gave us the idea that it can be a museum of its own which can represent the building as an abstract message. The visitors are going to follow a path through the deepest memories carried by the building.

32

The first floor of the building is divided into three different parts. The entrance, the exit and Cafeteria. The whole building is a considered to work as a single path. So if one enters the building, there is only one way to enter which is in front of him/her. Passing through the entrance there is the existing staircase which brings its visitors to the next level of the representation of colony of Renesso. 0

CONCEPTS

PERSIAN COURTYARD: in order to bring the natural light to the exhibition parts and create different qualities of the space, there has been considered courtyard. Meanwhile it also creates multiple connections through these different spaces. FLOATINESS: going back through most of the successful museums in the world, the ones that one is slightly passes from different levels without a sudden change of felling but to make them float in the space were their concept and main consideration. This project, with having 3 different flat levels. Does not force the visitors to consume huge tiring changes, but slowly bring them to the world of history and memories. PYRAMID: the simple idea of having higher levels which retreat from the lower one, not only brings the sight and an overview from top to both ground and first level, but also can bring indirect natural light which is the best way of showing objects to the visitors.

51

CONCEPTS

The main concept of the project is to follow the traditional houses of mountainous area around Alborz which helps the design with fitting in the context, functional satisfaction and thermodynamical efficiency. These typical houses of the north of Iran, are built on a one meter pilotis, with two entrances slightly oriented with the corridor around the house, a double hight space which presents the concept of privacy of the household in the first sight to the guest, a single surreal slope roof and the balcony around it protected from the rain. The other consideration of the design is the cemetery with no feeling of it. So using the proportions of cemetery in order to bring the harmony to the configuration of the functions and the sense of relativity of every element in a residential, specially since it is made for weekends and vacations of the family.
