Paiting, visual art, drama and other kinds of art form include a concept of evolution, so does architecture. As the details of scenery or any other approches are implied, this evolution should be neutralized or multiplied, it leads us into our mental condition, as the effect of music. As for the appearance of architecture, which, similar to human body and language, has a sort of sensorial poem, which could be spoken without language and becomes a state of drama. All of the means must clarify its substance beneath the historical circumstance and furthermore makes the viewers project their own image on ot. Only transference can liberate series of oppressed signifiers.

By representing OrphĂŠe from scene to scene, I designed the process of abstraction of screenplays, differentiate every elements of cinema: figures, background and time by using lines, volumes and objects to create a series of drawings. The physical model connects all the fragmental drawings and the path of OrphĂŠe.

Lessons from Rear Window/ A framing theatre seperating actors and voyeuers, stimulating imaginations and desires of peeping. Architect, just like a reporter spying on his neighbors, could conceive a mystery which consists of a series of frames.

21
Exploration of Architecture Form: a degree zero/ Tracing every scene is the first step of abstraction, and the two-dimensional drawings are transformed into architectural elements: walls, windows, openings, doors...etc, these undescribable forms are mysterious words which could be recombined and recomposed to achieve their new syntax and sematic universe. However, the meaning of architecture is doubtful, only the form exists eternally and generates new morphologies repeatedly.

Mnemonic Corridor/ The mnemonic corridor is a linear space corresponding to the scale of time. When you walk through this gigantic passage composed by the repetive pillars, seeing the pictures of memories hanging on the endless glass wall, it leads you to experience the journey through story of OrphĂŠe, similar to the scene when Heurtebise guiding him to the Death in the ruinlike hell.

32
Architecture as Actor/ Imagine that every architecture is an actor, they can move, talk, dance, do every gesture that people do, so that they can play a drama within space. Every architectural element is no longer a decision of function, they are means of narrative.

OrphĂŠe Tomb/ From the moment that he was crossing the mirror into another world, he was already dead. There's no difference between the living world and the hell: the deconstructed ruins, roads, and landscapes. He is trapped inbetween strugglingly measuring the analogous relation to the Creator and the world.

a reflection of co-consiousness

50
House with Split Personalities/ Refer to a House, we are not discussing to build merely a inhabitable shelter, we build a house in need of satisfying all the desires, fantasies of human beings, so the singularity is not possible. It compares to a man with split personalities. Orphée, Eurydice, Heurtebise, each figure represents a consiouseness individually. Orphée, a poet, passes from the reality to the surreal world. Eurydice, a lover of the poet, an inseparable presence connected to the house of Orphée. Heurtebise, an angel who always tells the truth, like a mirror reflects oneself.

The site is located on the south side of Fu-Chou mountain in Taipei where used to be a cemetery, now is a park seperating the residential area and the National Second Funeral Parlor. Because of the geogeaphaphic condition and its history, the site becomes an edge of life and death in a symbolic way, which is similar to the meaning of the mirror in the film of OrphĂŠe.

Nangang has the lowest population among all of the districts in Taipei, with thw new public constructions like the Nangang Exhibition Hall, Software Park and the China Trust Headquarter recently, it has become a new colony for investors who tend to put malls and deluxe residentials on the vast open ground. The consideration about the urban context and history is unecessary. By so, it seems that the district will be voided of its memory except the captialism soon or later. The idea of this project is to conceive a solitary island in the vaccant urban space, it's an artificial landscape which has its own context and memory. The architecture is divided into five parts, including library, gallery, and sport facillities along with the fragmental shapes, looks like several hills coming out continuosly from the earth where people could live in and walk inbetween.
67
68
Duchamp's hint/ In the painting Nude Descending a Staircase by Marcel Duchamp, it seems to express a continuous movement on the canvas, the shape of nude is divided into abstract fragments which are not dispersed but are connected by the hint of motion(He portrayed her from one view at multiple moments). It gives a inspiration of shaping a dynamic folding shell, floating in the mid-air constantly. The destruction of form is ruled by the timeline, like the rocks cut by the sea as time goes by, the architecture is an imitation of landscape.

D. dystopia
manifestato of Taipei metropolitan

78
The Bridge and the Archipelago/ The development of Taipei is from the west to the east. If we look at the axe of development on the map, the two ends are Wanhua and Xingyi district. They represent separately the poverty and prosperity of Taipei nowadays. The poor, the bourgeoise and the rich, they live in the city along the axe which is like an invisible bridge connecting the extremes. According to their different life styles, they need different public services, these services are like archipelago in the sea(the Bridge),separated but united by the common ground. The Bridge and the Archipelago is neither a project nor a proposal; but an exaggerated description of the existing conditions of city, to understand the city in an scope of dystopia.
79
80
81
Manifesto/ The Bridge declares the lives of Taipei metropolitan, there's no dialectics, doctrines of urban and architecture design.
82
83
Thermal Bath/ Located in the ceter of the Bridge. All kinds of people gathering here, share their bodies and thoughts without any discrimination.
84
85
Wandering Garden/ A neighborhood for the bourgeoisie. The cool serpentine glass appearance can stimulate their ideas, observe people easily. If you take a promenade in the neighborhood, you will have an pleasant wandering experience.
86
87
Wonderland of wealthy/ A paradise for the wealthy who wants to show off their collections, antics, furnitures...etc. Besides, the huge structure provides casino, restaurant and department store, surrounded by the artificial sandbeach and spectacular view. 88
89
Mogao Walls/ The homeless people simply need a shelter, a cave, or even a wall to live in, rather a house, they are nomadic buddhas in urban space.
