The site is in a protected scenic wetland in Changsha, China. "Circular embankment" was once one of the most distinctive elements of this wetland. As a unique kind of Land Art in this area, this concept is used as the theme throughout the entire design. Under the premise of respecting the original texture of wetland, we hope that we can enhance the design features by understanding of the urban texture and the local Land Art.

The site

Respect the original texture of wetland

Connections to the main road and the landscape tower

Artistic spiral channel in the urban fabric

Wetland texture extends to architectural space

Activation of the original urban fabric

In spring, the dominant wind is NNW wind. The west side and the north side of the Zone B were opening, so it is well ventilated. Zone A is located downwind, subject to the occlusion of other parts of the building ventilation effect is weak.

In summer, the dominant wind is SE wind. The master ventilation frequency in Zone A is up to 15.8 times/h. The master ventilation frequency in Zone B is up to 10.0 times/ h. The overall ventilation is good.

In fall, draft formed in Zone B because of the openings on the east and west sides, Three exhibition halls in Zone A have similar ventilation effect with no calm wind region. The ventilation is good.

In winter, the dominant wind is WN wind. In Zone B, the north side opening will be introduced to the outdoor cold air. Therefore, the wind speed there is relatively higher than other regions; the local wind speed will exceed 1.2m / s. This part is the focus of the windproof.
