White Cliffs of Dover

My practice started with a trip on the White Cliffs in the south of England. I was fascinated by the unique landscape there, which appears to be a cross-section of the earth's strata and displays the creation of nature. The clay is stacked, squeezed, bent, and developed dynamic cross-sections. These processes are like the formation of strata and the transformation of strata by humans. I experiment with different ways of creating patterns, the results of which are unpredictable and infinite.

Some of the stones I brought back from there became a source of inspiration for me to begin my geology research. I linked the micro-structure of the ore, the strata and the nerikomi technique, as I found they all shared a similar texture...
