Shen Jimmy

My legal name is Jianming Shen. I have been a professional photographer for decades, my works have been published and exhibited internationally. I wrote poems and prose. My prose Father’s Snoring won Meiwen prize in a contest of Respect to Our Ancestors hosted by Radio Hangzhou and was broadcast. I also worked as a commercial photographer in an advertising company for about ten years. For these years, I live much of my time here at a ginkgo village, which is situated under a branch of Tianmu Mountain, a member of the UNESCO's ‘Man and Biosphere Reserve Network’. While tending the garden, by closely observing structures of plants, I come to understand what ‘Art imitate Nature’ means, that’s our Chinese philosophy with all kinds of art. Through this way I enhance my craft a lot. Early 2006 ginkgo photos were exhibited at the Canterbury museum in New Zealand. I speak Chinese, English, a little Spanish.
