It gives me great pleasure to introduce our music diary for this Lent Term 2025. Music has a very special place at Sherborne Girls, and we warmly and enthusiastically embrace music in all its forms. We have a packed and broad programme of events this term, the majority of which are open to everyone. Our musicians will be taking part in masterclasses, competitions and a variety of concerts, gigs, competitions and recitals in our fabulous Gransden Hall, Sherborne Abbey, Cheap Street Church, Salisbury Cathedral and various other venues.
Alongside this we are excited to present our Subscription Concert
Series for this term, two fabulous concerts that I highly recommend.
On Friday 7 February our own Milly Riquelme will be performing traditional Cuban music with her band La Cubana and on Friday 7 March the award-winning cellist Guy Johnston will be performing a recital with pianist Melyvn Tan. Two very diverse events which are hugely exciting opportunities to hear wonderful musicians in Sherborne.
We very much look forward to welcoming you into the music department at Sherborne Girls.
Mark Cracknell Director of Music

THE HARRIET TORY TRUST SONGWRITING WORKSHOP AND CONCERT WITH KEITH AYLING
2.30pm Workshop | 7.30pm Concert
The Merritt Centre, Sherborne Girls
The Harriet Tory Masterclass Trust was established in 2008 in memory of Sherborne Girls Old Girl Harriet Tory (Aylmar ’86), who was tragically killed in 2005. A memorial fund was set up in her name, which has been used to support the establishment and continuation of an annual masterclass/workshop and concert with and for the pupils at Sherborne Girls, which is attended by Harriet’s family and family friends. Given Harriet’s life-long love of music and the personal support she gave to many friends to help them pursue their musical passions, we believe this is a fitting tribute to her very full and selfless life.
