Bifold Doors, Eversley

Once the architect plans had been finalised and planning permission granted, Mrs Norris started to look for a company who she could trust to supply and install the new doors and windows in her soon to be refurbished, 1970’s home in Eversley. Mrs Norris had heard from friends and neighbours, that Sherborne Windows had an excellent reputation locally, so she contacted the showroom in Farnborough and arranged for Tim Long to call at her home.

Mrs Norris commented: “Friends of ours recently had new windows fitted by Sherborne Windows and they were really happy with their professionalism. It is always helpful to receive recommendations.

She continued

“When Tim Long called at our home, he brought along samples and colour swatches for us to look through and then he took some measurements of where the bifold doors were going to be installed.”

At the rear of the property, there is now a fabulous swimming pool and paved terrace area which are accessed from rooms on the ground floor. Mrs Norris chose to have Aluminium Bifold Doors installed in each of the rooms, with a low threshold to allow ease of access between the home and patio.

The kitchen features a seven pane Bifold Door. All sashes slide in one direction when open, resulting in a fabulous seven metre opening. Even when the bifold doors are closed, the wide expanse of glazing allows plenty of natural light to flood the room.

There are five sets of Bifold Doors in total, each with an odd number of doors, providing symmetry when closed and a seamless transition from the house to the patio and swimming pool when open. Choosing Bifold Doors with an odd number of door sashes ensures that there is one master door with a Lever handle which can be opened without having to slide open every one of the bifold door sashes. Another benefit of having an odd number of door sashes is that when opened, all the sashes slide open in one direction and stack neatly to one side.

The windows on the first floor play a significant role in the overall design of the home and are all of a similar size, with two panes of glass. They perfectly complement the Velux windows positioned in the roof which feature vertical aluminium bars running down the centre. The entire property has been designed and built with the finest attention to detail.

Tim Long said: “After speaking with Mrs Norris, we reviewed the Architect Drawings and recommended Customade Aluminium Bifold Doors and Windows. Customade products are strong, secure and offer excellent thermal properties. Aluminium is a durable material which requires little maintenance to keep it looking good and performing well. All it will need is a wipe with a warm soapy cloth from time to time. The paint finish is powder-coated to provide a durable finish which will ensure the aluminium colour doesn’t fade in the sunlight.”

Mrs Norris said: “The Sherborne Windows installation team always arrived on time, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The After Sales Service has also been exceptional. I would definitely recommend Sherborne Windows.”
