Music Diary

WELCOME FROM THE NEW DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

Welcome to this term’s Music Diary. It gives me great pleasure to do so as I take the Music School reins over from the indefatigably long-serving Jamie Henderson. He, and the rest of the team, have given me the warmest possible welcome.

I arrive at Sherborne with a little history with the place already: my parents have lived in nearby Yetminster for the last twenty years or so, so the area, and the reputation of Sherborne School’s excellent music provision, are already familiar to me.

I started my musical life as a Chorister in the world-renowned Choir of King’s College, Cambridge. After completing my schooling at

Harrow School I furthered my education at the Royal Academy of Music and Middlesex University. I have held organist posts at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Christ Church Southgate, Tewkesbury Abbey and Arundel Cathedral often alongside my school posts at Dean Close Cheltenham, Oundle School, Eastbourne College and King Edward VI, Southampton. I have also been privileged to maintain other roles with various choirs, choral societies and orchestras.

I bring this wealth of experience as a schoolmaster and musician to Sherborne School as it seeks to maintain its rightly-held reputation as a school with excellent Music at its heart.
