JANUARY 2014

Pastors Dennis and Mary Barreras Happy New Year!!

HURRY UP AND WAIT!!!

Here we are in 2014! WOW what a blessing! I feel like singing the song by Pastor Marvin Sapp; I NEVER COULD’VE MADE WITHOUT YOU. I mean God for those of you who don’t know. He has been AWESOME in 2013, and that was just a preview of what’s to come. We lost a lot of people in 2013, our prayers go out to the ones who have lost loved ones in 2013. If you are still here… lift up your voice, raise your hands and say THANK YOU JESUS! It’s a New Year and a New season. Don’t drag anything negative from last year into this year. Just like you see the 3 falling in the picture above, you do the same, drop it! Every year we make resolutions on what we’re going to do and what we’re not going to do, only to find that we didn’t live up to any of them. This year make a decision to let God have is way in your life. Let his will be done, that way you won’t mess up. In this New Year we have some great cover stories lined up as well as a lot of new features and people in Sarah magazine. Throughout the year we have gotten a lot of feedback on the magazine in a positive way. I decided to add some of the comments on the following page. We couldn’t put everybody in, nor did we put names because we didn’t want to offend anyone if they didn’t see their name. We at Sarah thank you all for your comment s and support. How did you like our December issue? Wasn’t the cover story awesome? I’m not saying it because it was in my magazine  but I would like to toot my horn just a little bit. Just kidding. Her story was so encouraging and very informative. Did you take time and read all the articles? Well put your seat belts on… we have

another great feature story for you. I have known the anointed couple for many years. These two hard working Pastors are definitely people of faith and are all about building the kingdom of God. I am honored to have them share their story in Sarah magazine. I know you will enjoy reading about them and their ministry. In closing let me fill you in on all the new comers and the pages you are going to see on a regular basis. We liked to welcome aboard RENEE PURDIE, this woman of God will be sharing her wisdom and knowledge on editing, business, marketing and much more. If you need help in any of these areas, she’s the one to contact. We welcome MINISTER LaNITA PRICE she will be sharing her articles called, NUGGETS THE NURTURE. Her nurturing spirit and words will help you when you need someone to listen. We want you to write to her and she will answer you in the next edition. She is like our Christian dear Abby . In case you forgot we still have on board DAMEETREA CARR who shares with you her journey in Africa, contact her; tell her what you think of her articles. We have EVANGELIST DEBRA RAMSEY who is going to literally WOW you with her WORDS OF WISDOM. We have my sister JEANNETTE CARRADINE CRENSHAW who shares her very own unique recipes every month. This is just to name a few, if I didn’t mention your name please forgive me. Last but not least, this one I love… we have added pages that will spot light children. We call it, I GOT CAUGHT DOING SOMETHING GOOD! We will be spotlighting different children every month. If your child is doing something good, send it to me and we will spot light them. Our spot light child this month is ALEXYS RODGERS what talented young lady! Let’s focus on children doing something good in the New Year. It’s too much attention on the negative, let these children know that we see and appreciate them. Sarah is full of lots of great things; it’s something for everyone in here. Coming soon … HAIR CARE TIPS AND FITNESS. Hope you enjoy… God bless

New Year, New Blessings, New Opportunities For Americans, the first day of the New Year is the day we set resolutions. It's the day we vow to become a better person than we were in the previous year. This time around, we'll forgive and love; we'll give our heart away to the one person who proves deserving; we'll go to church every Sunday; we'll stop allowing trivial matters to hold our attention and change our mood; and the most popular, we'll lose X amount of pounds. Every year, we make our list and discuss it with those closest to us. One reason is because proclaiming our resolutions aloud makes them seem more real; and another is because we want the person we share our resolutions with to be the one to hold us accountable for achieving them. We see the New Year as the perfect time to reinvent ourselves and to release all stress and negativity--to welcome new blessings and embark upon new opportunities.

them, even when they aren't so deserving. The very first day of the year marks a new opportunity to work harder than the year before, working to keep their families as far as possible from the face of poverty. This contrast in New Year values makes me wonder at the way we all celebrate. What is the right way to ring in the new year? Is it in church, singing praises to the Lord? Or is it at home with family, promising them and yourself

In Rwanda, the New Year is more a celebration than a long list of I'm-finallythat this time you'll be going-to-do-this and I'm-going-to-do- Top: Outside of a village Protestant Church different? Every culture Right: Inside the church above; pulpit that different. Since majority of the Bottom: Inside; congregation seating and people celebrate in population is Christian, the first day of their own way, and I the New Year is spent in the Lord's house, giving think this is perfectly fine. Whether you are giving thanks and praise to God, as He has brought this thanks to the Lord above, partying the night away, country yet another year past the war and beyond or spending time with your loved ones, the the same-race discrimination that once plagued this important thing is that you are celebrating. Let joy Land of a Thousand Hills. For Rwanda, it means take you away from your troubles and let happiness giving thanks for another rainy season, thanking consume you. In Rwanda, praising God is the New God that the fields were not cursed with a famine to Year go-to; in America, the focus is on becoming a prevent the only form of income that most villagers better you; and in some other country in the far have to depend on--crop sales. In this way, reaches of the Earth, the focus is on, still, something Rwandans spend less time making promises to else. The New Year is a perfect time for self themselves for the next year, rather they spend reflection and new starts. However, I feel like self time reflecting on the things that they have reflection and simply saying, "I will be better" is not accomplished, the blessings that have showered enough. When we reflect on our lives, there are a down, and the love that Christ continues to show few things we need to consider so

we don't find ourselves making the same resolutions for the 4th and 5th years in a row. Take a look at the table on the next page for how Rwanda meets its goals as a country, and how you can P.L.A.N. to do the same for yourself in 2014! How

smile, but I didn't pay them much mind as I figured my coworkers were just being nice. Then when my mother left and I returned to my village. Again my coworkers prodded, "Keza! Your mother is beautiful!" "Your mother has a good heart!" And this time their words made me think. Whether they are being honest, or just being nice, it felt good to hear the things that they were saying. And it made me wonder, will they say these same things once I'm gone?

be

Remembered? As I've said in the December article, it can get pretty lonely volunteering far, far away from your loved ones. Just so I didn't lose my mind during this holiday season, my mother came to Rwanda to help celebrate my 25th birthday and second Thanksgiving away. That means two whole weeks of F.U.N. with my best friend!! We had a blast during the time that she was here, but of course, all good things must come to an end. About two weeks after she left Rwanda, life went back to business as usual--work in the morning, home for lunch, work in the afternoon, and back home for dinner. My health center holds a staff meeting every morning, and as usual, when my coworkers begin to talk too quickly in the local language for me to understand, my thoughts seem to drift back to the same place--America. Though in one particular staff meeting, my thoughts were interrupted by this random question, How do you want to be remembered? I'm not quite sure what I was thinking about that triggered the question, but once it was stated in my mind, I continued to ponder on it. I then thought about my mother's visit and how my coworkers reacted when they met her. They had nothing but good things to say, "You have done a great job raising Keza," "Keza is a good girl," "You are a great mother!" All of these things made me

Being alone and away for so long, it can be rather easy to grow bitter and lose sight of the blessing that God has afforded you in embracing another culture and people. I must admit, I'm not the nicest person every day. I get irritable, I get annoyed, and like anyone else, I can be just plain mean. As human beings, we are not always in the most pleasant of moods, and while expressing a wide range of emotions is perfectly healthy, we cannot use this fact as an excuse to pass through each day angry and bitter, without caring what kind of memory we leave behind for others to reflect upon.

My two mommies :) Birth mother and host mother. November 2013

In this new year, I have decided to take a new approach to this living-abroad experience. I want the last 6 months to be like the first 6 months, but better. Though the experience is no longer new, I still want to experience each day as if it were my first day here. I want to inspire positive thoughts and comments from my coworkers. I want to be remembered as "Keza, the good girl" and "Keza, the nice American." I also want to shed a positive light on the other things that I am‌Christian, Black, female, and American. We are representatives of our most outward attributes, whether we like it or not, so I think it's important that we take time to ask ourselves and really think about the answer to this question: How do

you want to be remembered? What did people say about you in 2013 and what do you want them to say about you in 2014? The only way people can capture the best you, is if you show them the best

you. And no, I'm not saying be perfect, nor fake for that matter, I'm just saying that you should allow your best traits to shine through--that is, if that’s the way you want to be remembered.

Your P.L.A.N. to Resolve in 2014 2014 doesn't have to be 2013 all over again! Write down your New Year's resolutions, PLAN the work, and work the PLAN.

RWANDA

Once you know what you want, think about how you will get there:  List the steps, in order, that you must take to reach your goal  What resources are available to help you along the way?  Who can you talk to when you begin to waver?  How will you keep yourself motivated?

Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, has a country-wide plan in place called Vision 2020. In this plan, he explains what he wants the country to accomplish by the year 2020. Once he figured out the what, he moved on to the how. The how included an outline of the steps needed to reach the final goal. With respect to his vision, each governmental department (i.e. health, education, agriculture) has a list of tasks they must accomplish, along with indicators and resources to keep them moving forward. As part of Vision 2020 and moving forward, the people of Rwanda have been encouraged to let go of the past and reconcile their differences--it is now looked down upon for someone to distinguish between Hutu and Tutsi, the two adversaries during the war. In letting go of their differences and seeking God for forgiveness, these people are able to move forward and work together to make Vision 2020 a reality.

Start fresh by letting go of past attempts and failures:  Find closure. What do you need to do to move passed the past?  Who can you discuss your insecurities with?  Accept that God has forgiven you, forgive yourself, and forgive others  Don't stand in your own way; no one can hold you back, but you You've planned and you've let go...now just do it!  Set out to accomplish each step in your plan  Keep yourself motivated with small rewards for each step you complete  Create a timeline  Track your progress.  Don't rush the process. Take your time to do things right Insanity is defined as doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting different results.  Don't drive yourself mad. Whatever it is, you let it go two steps ago, leave it there  What can you do to avoid falling back into your old habits?  Clean it up. Remove negative people and things from your life  Celebrate your growth and moving forward

Vision 2020 was set into place in 2000. The President created a timeline that would allow each governmental department to meet their goals without having to rush their progress. In addition, each organization working toward the goal has monthly reports they must submit to track progress. Motivation is maintained with small celebrations and ceremonies, newspaper headlines, and various honors/awards. One of the few things that would be able to set this country back from all of the progress it has made is if the Genocide were to happen again. Keeping this in mind, the people have coined the phrase "Genocide, Never Again," and have banded together to ensure that this statement proves true. The past is the past and they have decided to leave it there. Every April, memorials and celebrations take place across the country to remind the people of how far they have come and how much further they can go

Once you meet your goal, celebrate! After all, every accomplishment deserves a little something at the end. Whether you treat yourself to a movie or throw yourself a party, make sure it's something that makes all of your hard work worth it!

 Be Creative And Create ‘Buzz.’ If you have something exciting to share, convey it in a manner that’s energetic and interesting and will be talked about. Consider creating a video, design unconventional business cards (unusual shapes, finishing, paper, etc.) … basically do something different than your competitors. Do you!

Use Your Contacts. First of all, notice that I said use, not use up! Sometimes we don’t get because we don’t ask. Don’t be shy about telling people about your products and services and asking them to spread the word. That isn’t desperate; that’s good business. If you don’t tell people about your business, how will they know? Remember though that life is a two-way street. If you’re asking people to promote you, be sure to support them in their endeavors s well.

 Be Consistent. If you decide to use e-marketing as a strategy, schedule how often you’re going to communicate and stick to it. Don’t be hit and miss with your campaigns or your sales will probably be hit and miss too.

 Create Win-Wins And Develop Referral Partnerships.

As I’m sure you know, word of mouth is the most effective marketing and sales technique. Why? Well, you extolling the virtues of your business is okay, but someone else doing it is POWERFUL. Apart from delivering services and products that transform your clients into raving fans who send a continuous stream of referrals your way, for many businesses, it’s also vital to develop links and partnerships with other companies and organizations. Again, be creative as companies that don’t seem to go together might work well, such as a hair stylist with a pet grooming studio as people’s pampered pets can get their “do” done while their owners do the same.

 Give Back. Partnering with a charity is not only good for PR, it’s good period. Look for a charity that supports something or someone that you love. Make sure that they are as squeaky clean as possible though as anything that happens to the charity can have an effect on your business. With Minister LaNita R. Price

Write it, Water it and Watch God Build it How many times have you sat on the sidelines and watched someone else walk in an area that you know that you know you were called to move in? What was so special about them versus you that they are operating in it and flourishing? Dare I say it is their willingness to step out on faith? In the world they call it being a mover and a shaker who isn’t afraid to take a risk. In the body of Christ it is the same thing, but we understand where this supernatural form of help comes from. God’s word says His gifts and talents come without repentance, so whether we are in the body of Christ or not we all have a measure of talent innate within us. These talents are within us but it now

becomes a matter of us recognizing them, cultivating them and developing a vision plan for them. I cannot help but think of the many times in my life where God has awaken me from a deep sleep to give me a nugget and I’ve written it down, gotten excited about it and then done nothing with it. Why? You cannot accomplish what you don’t define, water with prayer, word and then follow through with action. In Habakkuk 2:1-4 we find Habakkuk calling out to the Lord asking why the children of God have been suffering for so long and when does He intend to deliver them. He goes on to remind God that “we” (the children of Israel) are nothing like the proud who excel in their own strength, but we live by our faith, we are justified by our faith and yet we have not yet been delivered. He acknowledges that yes, God is sovereign and he is made strong in Him to go through

whatever, but he cannot help but wonder when they will experience deliverance. Even if the midst of not experiencing their breakthrough yet, the author encourages us to write the vision down, understand that it may tarry or take longer than we’d hoped, but if we outline it and make the vision, it will happen. Until it does manifest it is our faith that waters the seed of the vision on the inside of us and the written outline helps us to remain focused and to know where we are headed. We have to understand that we cannot accomplish fully what we have not defined and those who are called to come alongside of us and support it cannot do so if they are unclear in what we are working towards. Once you see the vision and know where you are headed others will follow. Remember a visionary can see things that are not visible to the natural eye, or not obvious to the average person. Why? They are looking with supernatural eyes that have taken the vision, watered the vision in prayer with faith and now they have a clear direction for it. What I have found with every dream that HAS come to pass, I had to:

1. Write the vision down 2. Water the vision with prayer and speak the Word over it 3. Mark off every step along the way in the process 4. Share my testimony when it came to pass I have also found that with every dream/goal that I missed the mark on I had to: 1. Repent for either my delayed obedience, lack of obedience, faithlessness, or fear of stepping out. 2. Seek God again to see if that vision is something I am still to accomplish because our delayed obedience is still disobedience and what we don’t get done God will with or without us. 3. Listen to God and determine that I will move out as He directs my steps. 4. If I am given the opportunity to go forth with the dream/vision I had to also complete steps 14 of those dreams/visions that came to pass. I encourage you not to die with all of the potential inside of you. Seek God

and fulfill all that He created you to do. You must have faith in God. When God gives us a vision and we are functioning clearly in it I’ve found that with the vision it brings: 1. Clarity on what it is you are called to do 2. Explanation on how to get it done 3. Motivation to get it done I have also found that where there is no vision there is also no opposition. The enemy doesn’t mind us being full of good intentions as long as we don’t act on them. So I encourage you to determine today that you are a life changer and seek God to help you define how you will use what He has given to you to: 1. Help your church 2. Help your community 3. Help your family And in doing so you will find yourself really living!

Pass this Mountain No More Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea, as the Lord spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days. And the Lord spake unto me, saying, Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward (Deuteronomy 2:1-3 KJV) As we enter a new year, we look at the promises God has spoken unto us that has not came to pass. Sometimes we set new goal or resolutions. We even wander why certain situations haven’t changed. You have prayed over and over again about it, but still no change. It appears everybody around you are receiving a breakthrough except you. Yes, God has given us Promises that is Greater than our Situations

or Circumstances.. You can always depend on God’s promise. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV) God had promised Abraham and the people of God the land of Canaan as their possession. On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “to your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates. (Genesis 15:18 NKJV) See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give them and their descendants after them. ( Deuteronomy 1:8 NKJV) There are times when you will face challenges and change. You will either embrace it or resist it. Life is a journey; you have to decide to move forward and not continue to live in the past. Let’s not be like the Israelites going around in circles. Making the same choices day after day, year after year with no change taking place. And the Lord spoke to me, saying you have skirted this mountain Long Enough; turn northward.” (Deuteronomy 2:3 NKJV) The Israelites had been wandering in the wilderness for almost forty years. This journey was supposed to take eleven days instead it took forty years. The Israelites had been walking

around on land that didn’t belong to them . Have you ever spent days dwelling on what someone else has instead of Possessing the Promise God has for you? Keep your eyes on your own Prize! Repeating a testimony from the past, because it appeared that God wasn’t moving on your behalf. I believe the Israelites would have kept wandering around the skirt of the mountain and not taken Possession of their Inheritance as well. But the words came to them stating “You have been here Long Enough” You have complained long enough. They blamed Moses for their plight. They stated it would have been better “For us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” You have complained long enough. You have been in this same place long enough. It could be physical, mental, financial, addiction, relationships. It is time to move in a new direction. It is time for you to speak unto that situation that has you paralyzed. It is time to replace Fear with FAITH ! It is time for a change! You can’t change the past but you can conquer the promises for your future. Don’t allow procrastination to block your Promise Land. They blamed Moses who are you blaming today because you have not accomplished what you feel you should have? God instructed Moses on what to do to allow them to cross over the sea.

Moses did as he was told. They were able to cross over on dry land. God has spoken Promises and instructions into your spirit and it is time for you to Name, Claim and Possess them in His Name. There is a song I love by the gospel artists Mary Mary the title is, Go Get It, Get Your Blessing. I encourage you to Go Get Your Promise which is your Blessing. God has equipped you for the journey. Therefore move forward .What God has for you is only for You. For every one who is reading Sarah Magazine it is a constant reminder to us through the founder and editor Sheree Carradine that IT IS NEVER TOO LATE to Possess Your Promise. Blessings,

Evangelist Debra Ramsey

This couple is truly anointed. Always busy doing the things of God. As you read the story, you will see all the wonderful things they are doing. I met them many years ago, and I can honestly say that they are true representatives of Christ. I know that their story will encourage and inspire you to WAIT ON GOD!

Hurry Up and Wait!!! The Power in Waiting What an exciting journey the Lord has promised and provided in our lives! His Word has truly manifested; He has performed His Word in every area of our lives. As I reflect on all that the Lord has done for me, I can’t help but to give Him all the praise and glory. He truly is worthy! If everything was to come to a halt right now, I would feel it’s been enough, but as I wait on Him, I know there’s more! You see I can’t wait, so I can wait on Him some more. You must understand God has blessed my wife, Mary and me above and beyond all that we could ask or think. The success that God has brought into our lives, the favor, the power, when we were weak, the increase, when we needed strength, the renewal of strength to run and not be weary, what was needed when we were to walk and not faint, He delivered as He said He would. “He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength…But to those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29,31 From the beginning, the Lord dropped revelation into my spirit about the key to success. The key

that would unlock the closed doors. The impossible circumstances would have to bow to the truth of His Word through the power of waiting on Him. Early on in my born-again experience, The Lord opened up to me revelation… knowledge in the words “wait on me”. I was a single parent of a beautiful baby girl. I was on fire for God, inspired toward my destiny, with a passion to see God perform His Word in my life. The Lord knew what I needed to fulfill His plan for my life. I needed to learn to give Him complete control and He showed me how the power of God manifests when we, His people, wait on Him. The Lord took me to His Word in the Book of 1 Kings, Chapter 17, where the prophet Elijah says to Ahab there will be no rain or dew for a few years. The Lord tells the prophet “get away” from there, to “Hide” by the Brook Cherith. The Lord God of Israel told Elijah to wait by the brook and drink the water which flows into the Jordan and be fed by ravens every morning and evening. The bible

says he went and “stayed” by the brook---He waited on the promise of God. He waited and experienced the power in waiting on the Lord. As he waited, the heavenlies were set into motion as he waited. He was provided everything he needed to sustain him during a drought. As he waited, the power of God anointed a couple of ravens to behave in a manner totally contrary to their species. Ravens, my friends, are takers not givers. Their nature is to feed on dead things, not bring life. They are wanderers, not a bird known for scheduled appointments. The power in waiting was revelation for my success in following God daily toward the destiny He had ordained. I began to understand as I walked with God that His rule in my life was timely and divinely executed with the power brought on in waiting on the Lord. I understood that the waiting in the bible was not as we qualify the word in our daily usage. We use the term “waiting” as a time that is non-productive and we feel we are being punished for something we done. But when God says “wait on me” and we respond with a fervent, patient hope that the miracle working power of God comes into our lives and situations. I began attending a spirit filled Pentecostal church in Tucson where the future mother of my baby was employed. My future wife was the help-mate that God sent me. I waited on the Lord for a wife and the woman of God was waiting also on Him and the power of almighty God brought us together. My wife would rock my baby girl and pray over her for God to bring her a mother that would love and care for her. Little did my wife know that she would be the mother that she was praying about! We dated for three years. I guess you could say we waited and dated. I must admit I wanted to tie the knot after a year of dating, but I knew that His timing and rule in our lives was the best for us to receive His best. We married and only a few months later, through a dream my wife had, and another I had, the Lord showed us we were to go to Russia, “before the doors are closed to the gospel.”

Neither one of us knew anyone from Russia, but we began to pray and ask the Lord for guidance. Finally, a friend of ours knew a young man from Russia who lived in America and traveled there often. We wrote to this Russian and he wrote back, saying he believed this was God and we set a date to meet in Moscow. The finances came as we let people know of our mission trip. Our interpreter set up a three week revival to twelve different churches in ten different cities. Many people were blessed and healed; delivered of infirmities and demonic spirits in every meeting we ministered. The power of God truly showed up and showed out! I preached in those cities, seeking the Lord for the message I was to deliver and in every town, the Lord had me to bring the same message “Hurry up and Wait! When we returned to Tucson, our bible study that we had weekly in my living room grew to a tent.

We put together tarps to accommodate the ever increasing numbers of people receiving Jesus and being taught the Word of God! People came from the neighborhood and from around the city. We waited on the Lord, as a church was forming and it was time to step into our destined purposed for our lives as pastors of the Santa Cruz Harvest Center Church. With our pastor’s blessing, we had church under the makeshift tent and then moved into a building for a couple of years until it was sold. We rented the banquet room at the Howard Johnsons Hotel for a few years and finally ended up using our home as the church. We had a large area in our living room and dining area enough to fit 50 members every week. After seven years

with our church, my father, Philip Barreras, who had received the Lord, donated his property to the church so we could build a new church facility. I must say, waiting on the Lord was not always easy up to this point, especially the “attitude” of patience required when we wait on The Lord. You see, my friends, waiting is not the same as having patience. One can wait without patience all day long. Many people do not understand that having the right attitude means everything to our Lord. The Psalmist wrote “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry” Psalm 40:1, Patience is a virtue and attitude of endurance in times of trials and tribulation. You see, after my father had donated the property of the church, some in our congregation thought we should borrow the money to build the building. The patience was needed to wait on God to lead us and I kept hearing God speak to my heart “Wait on Me.” Having to forbear those in the church who did not want to wait and left the church over the decision, took the power of God from whom we find in the fruit of Patience. We must become a patient of patience, I always say. The Psalmist sang about the way he waited patiently. Psalm 40:1 has us to understand that the attitude of patience gets God’s attention. The scripture says “He inclined to me and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1. Becoming a patient of patience and going under the knife, so to speak, lets God operate on His patient for a successful surgery. Many times we’re not good patients. We don’t follow doctor’s orders and refuse to take our medicine. But when we, like the psalmist, wait patiently, we have incorporated God’s Word with the right attitude, yes, hopefully expectation, a knowing in your spirit empowered the heavenlies to perform God’s Word. The building project estimated at nearly two hundred thousand dollars. It was becoming a

reality with the foundation dug and poured by people we never even met. I testify to other pastors, all I had was a can of lime. We measured the area of floor space and lined the ground with white lime and a man who was driving by stopped. My father blocked his path in the middle of the road. He proceeded to inform the truck driver, who was hauling a backhoe tractor, of our plans to build the Lord’s temple. We needed the footer to be dug and convinced him to unload the backhoe. We never met this man because we were out of town. My father never got his name, but the miracle working power of God manifested and the need was met. The foundation was dug and the block and cement was poured by donation and volunteers. The building project was underway, with God providing everything needed every step of the way. “Because His compassions fail not, they are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul therefore I hope in Him; The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” It is good that one should hope and wait quietly”. Lamentations 3:22-26 As the scripture says, when we wait, it is good! Today, seven years later, stands the debt free, newly built house of God that the Lord promised, and purposed for my wife and I to preach the Good News of Jesus. So many incredible miracles came through the people the Lord has sent us to help us. He has provided so much, according to His will and way. The Harvest Center Church has grown to over 100 members with outreaches in the jails and prisons here in Arizona. Working with the homeless population, providing food, directing them to shelters, and rehabilitation, meeting the needs of families in the community. Seeing souls saved and set free. My wife, Mary and I are as grateful for His faithfulness as we wait patiently, quietly and hopeful in His Word, to bring forth Kingdom power. My friends, Hurry up and Wait and see the goodness of the Lord!

Our Vision To make a positive impact upon the city of Tucson by creating a Worship Center in which all are welcome and a place where all individuals and families can grow and flourish in faith and discover God’s plan for their lives. A place for lives to be restored and rebuilt through Jesus Christ. We minister to people. We pray for the sick, comfort the hurting and sorrowful, encourage the weak and weary, and reach out in love to those who need a friend. We minister the Word of God. The proclamation of the Gospel comes after individuals have opened their hearts to God and turned from themselves to others. Only then are they truly ready to hear and benefit fully from the Word of the Lord Jesus

Statement of Faith •

The Bible is the only written Word that is inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is infallible and is a necessity for Christians to live life as God wants us to. 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Tim 3:15-16 There is one Eternal God manifested in three persons, God the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Deu. 6:4, Matt. 28:19, Luke 3:22, 2 Cor. 13:14, John 1:1, Rev. 1:4-6 Our Lord Jesus Christ is God. He became a man through the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, revealed the will of the Father through His miracles, was wounded for us to have healing, died as our sacrifice, rose from the dead,

ascended to the right hand of the Father, will come back in all His glory to take the church out of the world and then return to establish His Kingdom for a thousand years. Luke 1:3438, 21:27, & v34, Heb. 2:9, 8-1, Matt. 26:64, Act 2:23-24, Titus 2:11-14 •

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ. The work of the Holy Spirit in the regeneration of man is absolutely necessary for his personal Salvation. Titus3:4-7

Following conversion, in accord to God's Word, is the need for the believer to be baptized by immersion in water. Romans 6:311, 1Peter 3:21

That believers need the Baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 and that it is given to them that ask. Act 1:8

Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit the Christian is set apart from the world and is empowered to live a holy life. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

There is going to be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. John 5:28-29, 1 Cor. 15:20-23

Getting to Know....

Pastors Dennis and Mary Barreras Where were you and Pastor Dennis born and raised? If not in Tucson, what bought you here? Pastor Dennis was born and raised in Tucson. Our church is in the neighborhood where he was raised. Dennis was raised Catholic and was an altar boy in the Catholic Church. After a life of drugs and partying, playing in different bands, traveling and singing in the world, 3 failed marriages and 3 children from 3 different women, Dennis knew he needed a life change when his last wife left him, and he became a single father. He cried out to God and said if you are for real do something with my life. He said he had a road to Damascus experience like Paul. Every since then he has been in love with Jesus. He started going to Calvary Evangelistic Center and was trained in ministry under Pastor Maynard Weisbrod. In May of 1994, God told Dennis to start a Bible Study in his home. Many people received the Lord in those bible studies, and then in October of 1997 we started our church. I was raised in Wichita, Kansas. I grew up in church and received the Lord at the early age of 4. When I was 7, I knew God had called me into ministry. I told everyone I was going to be a preacher. I preached my first sermon when I was 13. I went to Emmanuel Temple

Bible College and was ordained when I was 18. I married my first husband at age 21. We had planned to go into ministry together, and we moved to Tucson 5 years later because his family lived here. My first husband turned away from God. He left me after 12 years of marriage. He told me as long as I was serving God and he was running from God, he could not stay with me. I became a single mother of 2 daughters.

Can you share about the Gospel Rescue Mission and what you both do? Â Dennis and I married on December 1996. In July of 1997, he was offered a job at the Gospel Rescue Mission (GRM), where he worked as a case manager and drug addiction counselor for 5 years. I met Dennis in church 3 years later, and we dated for 3 years. I had a lot of fear of marrying and I was told I could not remarry or I would be in sin. After much prayer and guideness from prophets, I married Dennis and the blessings of God have been on us. In the beginning of pastoring, Dennis made very little money at his job and we did not have any income from the church the first 5 years. In building our church, there were times

that it appears that it was never going to be completed. Many times we felt like giving up.

What year did you start your church? Dennis was offered a job at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. They offered him $40.00 an hour, and they would move us and put us in housing until we bought our own home. This offer appeared so great, since Dennis was making so little money. We both knew that we could not accept this offer because God had a higher calling and He would provide for us. After 5 years of working for the GRM, God let Dennis know it was time to go full time in the ministry. That was scary because there was no income coming in the church. The offerings were just enough to pay the rent of the building we were in. This was a huge step of faith. Soon after that, I started working at the Gospel Rescue Mission Women Center. I had been working for the GRM already with the children. We had a kids club on Saturday through the GRM. God open the door for me to work as a cook and then the door open for me to work as a case manager. I’m still working as a case manager and I love it. I work with women who are in a life of drug addiction.

On a personal note, what would you say to that man or woman, that’s at wits end, they feel they have waited but nothing is happening, what can you tell them? Our daughter was diagnosed with mixconnected Tissue disease over 3 years ago. She was only 18. For a while, we thought she might die because of the disease. During this time, we preached faith. We were expecting a miracle, but the more we prayed and proclaimed the Word of God, the worse she

got. The disease was progressing. Dennis got very angry with God. This was OUR child, his daughter that he raised from a baby! He had been faithful to God and his baby girl was taking Chemo and getting sicker. After 3 years, we saw the healing power of God! God healed Karlene from an incurable disease. We did not always have faith during the 3 years, when she first got sick; Dennis’ oldest son was in prison for a DUI. His youngest was in jail for a DUI. One thing after another was happening in our lives. Here we are, the pastors of a church and our family was being attack in every way. We had to depend on God for our strength and not give up. God gave us the strength to carry on. This last year, we were blessed to be able to attend the graduation from Bible Collage of our spiritual daughter, who God delivered from drugs. She went through the drug rehab at the Gospel Rescue Mission and attended our church. She, now married, and her husband are pastors at a church in Kake, Alaska.

Last comments? When we see people’s lives change and God turns them into new creation, it makes it worth it all. On New Year’s Eve, we will be licensing 5 people into ministry. We are so excited to pour The Word into lives and train up new ministers to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Pastors Dennis and Mary Barreras have two sons, 3 daughters, 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters. You are always welcomed to Harvest

Center Christian Church where we are “Building Relationships in Christ!”

Founder & Pastor of Fire And Faith Ministries Phoenix, Arizona & Founder of I.P.A.N International Prophetic Arsenal Network

The Year Of Dancing And Harvest..

Bishop Timothy E. Craig, D. Div.

In 2009 he founded Fire and Faith Ministries Church in Phoenix, AZ. A prophetic church called to “Raise A Prophetic People To Carry The Fire of God and Release The Faith of God To A New Generation”. In 2012 he founded the International Prophetic Arsenal Network (I.P.A.N). A network of born again, spirit filled believers gathered together to be strategically placed in the systems of this world to make the Kingdoms of this world the Kingdoms of our God and of His Christ. A prophetic church called to “Raise A Prophetic People To Carry The Fire of God and Release The Faith of God To A New Generation”. In 2012 he founded the International

Prophetic Arsenal Network (I.P.A.N). A network of born again, spirit filled believers gathered together to be strategically placed in the systems of this world to make the Kingdoms of this world the Kingdoms of our God and of His Christ. He operates in a powerful apostolic and prophetic anointing that ministers to the Five-fold Ministry Gifts as well as the Body of Christ at large. He is the spiritual covering for many pastors, ministers and ministries throughout the U.S. and many countries abroad. His unique style of ministry transcends denominational lines and ministers to the young and old alike. The International Prophetic Arsenal Network (I.P.A.N) is not just another fellowship or network, it is a gathering of those who know and are confident in what God has called them to do. The word

arsenal means “an array of resources available for a certain purpose.” In other words, God is looking for those that know what their “resources” are and that know their “certain purpose”, not those who know it all and can do it all. Being in an arsenal means that your anointing, gift or talent may not be used all the time, but when God calls your name and your time comes, God will get the glory out of your life! The word of God declares in Romans 8:19 “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Which tells us that all of creation is waiting for those that God has prepared as His sons. Which means we need a clear picture of who His sons are! In Romans 8:14 the word declares “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” In other words, God is not releasing anyone who is not led by His Spirit. God

needs to be able to know that those that He releases will obey Him, be led, guided and directed by Him, and love Him. I believe that I.P.A.N is a network that attracts those that have unique anointing’s that eyes haven’t seen and ears haven’t heard. Those that nobody knows yet, those that don’t think like everyone else, those that have a heart for God’s people and genuinely want to see them flourish. Are you apart of this prophetic arsenal that God is raising up for such a time as this?

NWO is the latest acronym that you will want to know. Duane A. McCoy and Antoinette McCoy of DNA FILMWORKS, subsidiary of Epic Royal Entertainment, are producing the latest apocalyptic movie called “NEW WORLD ORDER” (NWO). The story line is the journey of two women who are faced with a most important decision that will affect the rest of their lives and the impact they have on others. Do they choose to live under the anti-christ or choose to die for the testimony of Jesus Christ? The inspiration for the movie came from a vision that

came to Duane several years ago and was placed on his heart by God. The Spirit of God prompted him and Lady Antoinette to start writing the script which has evolved into the “New World Order” movie. The point of the movie is a strong message and the fact that it is already resonating internally only leads one to believe that the message is articulated well in the script. The movie includes incredible action scenes that add volumes to the representation and intensity of the story. It is important for others to know that Duane and Antoinette’s

hope is to educate and make the story of salvation understandable. They want to share about the trials and tribulations and where we are as a people. The message explains that we are already a church and that as believers or non-believers there will be choices that need to be made to escape the wrath of God. They want to encourage living life in such a way that souls will not be lost in the end, but won over to Jesus Christ. DNA FILM WORKS hopes to increase the distribution capability for future productions. Not only is Apostle Duane and Lady Antoinette McCoy Pastors and

Gospel. The purpose of Holy Child Gospel amalgamates alongside with World Evangelistic Church Intl. as it was designed to minister the truth to the masses through wholesome song and music. Holy Child Gospel is a full service word based label and production company with connections to various entities of the gospel music industry. This is only the beginning for this young production team that is seeking to produce and distribute above the line Christian movies that target a broad audience worldwide. “The New World Order story came from a larger trilogy concept about the apocalypse called the Kings of Kings, so there WILL BE more to come. For more information about the movie and the production companies, see contact details below:

TRAIN UP A CHILD I just want to share with you something that grieved me upon watching it. Someone posted a video on face book of two little girls not even ten years old using profanity like two grown women. You could hear the grownups in the background laughing about it. The language these children were using made my ears hurt. The entirety of the video was five minutes, I couldn’t even watch one minute of it, the first thirty seconds of it, grieved me to almost tears. If you know me, children are my heart! Who in their right mind would make a video of this and post it on face book! All I could do was pray. The sad thing about this is that people were sharing it. The more we feed this the more it encourages them to post videos such as this. When I put the title What’s Happening To Our Children, the scripture came to mind; Train up a child in the way he should go and

when he is old he will not depart from it. (Prov. 22:6). Every time you turn on the T.V we hear on the news that another child has shot someone because they were disciplined. It seems the word NO is worse than using profanity. In this day in age, parents are afraid to discipline their children and tell them NO. When these children start school, it’s hard for the teachers to teach them anything! People are allowing their children to do whatever they want. They’re thinking it’s funny to post videos such as the one I mentioned earlier; they seem to think this behavior is cute. Is it cute when that child gets older and someone disciplines and tells them their behavior is neither funny nor cute, that child goes home and comes back with a gun and shoots the person. We all know this is true and its happening practically every day, watch the news or read the newspaper and see for yourself. Parents it’s up to you to train your child at home. Stop laughing at and posting negative things they do on

face book, that makes them think that this is the way to get attention. I remember when we used to teach our little nieces and nephews little words that we thought were cute. My mom would always remind us that everything we teach them is on us. Her saying was “IT’S CUTE NOW, BUT THEIR LITTLE SINS ARE ON YOU.” That made me think about all the little so called cute things I was teaching them and how it could end up backfiring. As a parent, teacher and someone who loves children, It’s sad when you see a child that lacks discipline. How do you expect the teachers to teach if you don’t first teach them at home? It’s time stop and go back to saying NO it won’t kill them if you say NO. Discipline them now and it will stop them from killing someone later. I’m writing this to say to you; my heart has been so grieved lately with the things I have seen in the children of today, I asked myself the question, What IS HAPPENING TO OUR CHILDREN? Then I decided to do something about it. Last year we did an issue of Sarah magazine with children on the cover. It was titled I GOT CAUGHT DOING SOMETHING GOOD! We featured children that were doing

good things. I wanted to do this again in one of the upcoming editions of Sarah. The more I watched the news and then the trigger was when I watched that video, I knew this couldn’t wait! Through much prayer, I was led to do something every month. Every month we are going to have a section in the magazine that spot lights children doing something good. The children that are out there doing well are not being recognized. The world seems to thrive on who’s doing something negative. Let’s come together and let the world and these children who are trying to do good know that we see them. As the Chief Editor of Sarah magazine, I’m reaching out to you as parents to stand with me and let’s focus on the positive. If your child is doing something good, send it to us. We would like to put them in the spotlight for others to see. Every month we will have our spotlight section of Children Getting Caught Doing Something Good. Now…on the next page, the rest of this article will be in caps, why? Because I want your attention!

IF YOU CHOOSE TO INGORE THIS PETITION TO YOU, DON’T GET MAD OR COMPLAIN WHEN THE NEWS MEDIA IS SPOTLIGHTING ANTOTHER CHILD DOING SOMETHING NEGATIVE. LET’S DO THE RIGHT THING AND APPLAUD THE CHILDREN DOING GOOD. WHEN WE STOP FEEDING THE NEGATIVE IT WILL CEASE. WHEN CHILDREN SEE OTHER CHILDREN DOING GOOD IT INSPIRES THEM TO DO GOOD AS WELL. We featured Alexys Rodgers in our August, and October edition of Sarah magazine. She participated in the 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Tucson/Phoenix pageant competition that took place on Sunday March 17, 2013. Alexys was crowned 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Phoenix/Tucson after competing against a select group of phenomenal young ladies. As the 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Phoenix/Tucson crown holder, Alexys now has a bigger goal in mind…winning the National 2013 Miss Pre-Teen title. The 2013 National Competition took place in Orlando, Florida from December 11-December 16, 2013. We have been following her journey to compete in this pageant. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HER! We decided to spotlight this beautiful pre-teen and allow our little star to share her journey in her own words. Cover picture by Dria Photos. Dria is a proud sponsor and photographer for this beautiful young lady. I am truly humbled and blessed for the opportunity! photosbydria@hotmail.com, photosbydria.com (520) 250-1895.

I am Alexys Rodgers, and I have experienced something I will never ever forget. I was a contestant in the 2013 Miss Teen Nationals Pageant. I met so many beautiful, nice girls. It really has been an honor to be a part of this. It‟s overwhelming to be in front of judges and parents all looking at you! You have to own that whole stage. This is all about my amazing experience… Enjoy!!!

Miss Pre-Teen Phoenix/ Tucson In all of the states across the country, certain

individual cities held much smaller pageants, known as the preliminary pageant. In order to make it to Nationals, you had to make it to the Top 10 in your preliminary pageant for your city. I competed in the preliminary pageant for my city in March of 2013, and I was the winner of the preliminary pageant out of Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. Being the winner guaranteed your place in the National Competition, and also came with a modeling scholarship and some fees for the National Competition being paid for.

Arriving in Florida Nationals were held in Orlando, Florida at the beautiful Rosen Centre Hotel. After two very long flights, my dad, my mom and I reached the hotel. It was the biggest hotel I‟ve ever seen! There were 24 floors and at least 5 ballrooms! We checked in at about 3‟o‟clock and my mom went to a parent meeting, while my dad and I stayed in our hotel on the 11th

floor. I sat in the windowsill the whole time! It was a great view! The hotel room was great and the beds were really, really comfy!

The First Event That night… Wednesday, December 16, was the very first event for the contestants. It was a banquet. There were a lot of girls (And food!) After eating, taking pictures and meeting girls, all of us were introduced to all of our judges. (One of our judges was a singing coach for Brandy!). Then every single girl was recognized for being there. We all got a certificate and a trophy of participation. I met some girls that night and I ate a lot! During the

banquet, the contestants were given the question for the formal competition.

Rehearsal, Interview and Glamour The next day my age division (pre-teen) went to a rehearsal for a dance. All girls in their age division were doing a dance on Sunday before they announced the Top Ten. The song we were going to be dancing to was called „When I Grow Up‟ by the Pussycat Dolls. It was a really cute dance! A feather boa and sunglasses were required for our dance. It was really fun and cool because we learned the whole entire dance in those two hours! After rehearsal, I got ready for my personal interview. During my interview there were two judges. They were mostly asking me question about me! “Tell us about yourself” was one of my questions. My interview went great to me! After my interview I wanted to see my friend in

the glamour competition. This competition was basically to see who has a good sense of style and a good personality. I met several girls at the pageant, and we just talked and hung out. Once the competition was over, my friend came to my room and we stayed there for a little bit.

We decided to go downstairs and practice our walk for the production. Once there, we found other girls practicing with a teenager named Ceirra. She was very sweet and helped us a lot with the casual wear and formal wear walk. Thank you Cierra!!

Free Day!! On Friday we got to do whatever we wanted! My parents decided to drive to Tampa, Florida to visit a friend of the family. We stayed at her house for a few hours, and then we went to have dinner with family. I met some family Iâ€&#x;ve never met before. My cousins and I played lots of games and we just had fun!

The First Big Day On Saturday I had my casual wear competition in the morning. We met my friend at the escalators and walked to the Convention Centre. I was contestant #98 so I was towards the end of the line. Once I got on stage I smiled and did my best! There were two

judges there too. After that I went back to my room to get ready for the formal wear competition.

I had a big beautiful purple dress.

The Second Big Day Before anything big happened I had another rehearsal in the morning. This time it was in the place we were going to be performing! We also performed in front of the other age divisions. After rehearsal we went to a party and ate cake. Later on I went with friends to Red Lobster and we ate lunch/dinner. Then it was time to dance!

My question was “If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?” I said,‟ I would go to Brazil because I love nature and it is very pretty in Brazil.” I walked as gracefully as I could and I smiled very big!

After that I took tons of pictures with my friends and went back to my room. I went to my friend‟s room and we went to another dance rehearsal... this time with our feather boas and sunglasses. Rehearsal was fun and one of the girls was giving out candy canes!

We all backed up and stood there hoping our friends make it, but we make it as well into the Top Ten. “First runner up for The Miss Photogenic Competition… contestant number 98, Alexys Rodgers!” I felt like I was grinning from ear to ear! My trophy was huge!! Then one by one the Top Ten were called up.

I was not called up for top ten so me and one of my friends who also weren‟t called up went swimming. It was really fun! Other girls who lost were there too. We ate chips and drank soda. Then it was time to say goodbye to all of my friends! I missed them so, so much! I really didn‟t want to leave! But I said bye and went up to my room. My parents had everything packed up to go. I took a shower and went to bed.

Bye-Bye Florida The next morning, very early, we drove to drop of our rental car and took the shuttle to the airport. We got on two planes and got to Phoenix. We got something to eat and we didn‟t get back to Tucson until 2am in the morning. I was so tired, but what an adventure and wonderful experience.

One which I will never forget.

What a Week! That week was the most amazing week of my whole life! Just because I didn‟t win doesn‟t mean I did not have fun! I had the most fun ever!! I met funny girls, saw friends and family, and did my best! That‟s all that matters! I am a 12 year old 6th grader, and I am in the 7 grade band at my school. I play the clarinet. I am in all Honors classes and am an Honor Roll Student. My report card just came out and on it were 5 As and 1 B. I am a member of the Tucson Elite Athletic Club for track. I am proud of my accomplishments and thank God for my talents and abilities. This is the first step I will take toward my dreams! And I truly want to thank everyone who sponsored me, donated, and supported me during this process. I appreciate you all so much, and I love you very much! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Alexys is not only a beautiful young lady, but is intelligent and wise in her years. She is a wonderful daughter whom we expect nothing but greatness from because of her mature spirit, kind heart, and willingness to help others. She has always been a big dreamer, and has huge plans for how she will make an impact in the world, and in the Kingdom of God. She is an exceptional student, and works hard to maintain her place on the Honor Roll. Alexys participated in and was crowned 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Phoenix/Tucson in March, and was recently a participant in the 2013 National Competition in Orlando Florida where she competed for the National title of Miss Pre-Teen. She demonstrated elegance, grace, poise and maturity throughout the competition. Though she did not win the title she won 1st Runner –Up in

the 2013 National Miss Photogenic Competition. We are so proud of her for being courageous enough to compete against other young ladies her age from all over the country, and to get up on stage with confidence showing all what God has made in her. Alexys is adventurous, and will try things that most people won’t. She is a well-rounded young lady who participates in multiple activities like playing the clarinet in the 7th grand band as a 6th grader. She sings in school talent shows and sings for Youth Sundays where she is a Kingdoms Kid at Lighthouse Church International. She participates in praise dances at church and runs track with Tucson Elite Athletic Club. We are extremely proud, and are blessed and honored that God chose us to be her parents. We love you Nina! ~Dad and Mom~

The Joy and the Pain of the Single Christian?? Woman is an eye-opening book of (keepin’ it) real stories about women who have found (or led) themselves in situations of great spiritual and sometimes physical danger. It is not a book of judgment, but rather of warning. From naïve little church girls who don’t know any better to their older counterparts who should know better, this book reveals the many faces that the enemy can take. With that said, this is not a male bashing book, but it sure shows an array of males: from the player to the ex-con to the married man (Yeah, as Madea said in Madea Gets A Job: “You thought a married man was THE ONE?” (If this is you, wake up, sis!) What is singularly apparent from all of these stories is that the sexual sin of fornication (having sex when you’re not married) formed an almost unbreakable bond between these women and the person they believed to be their “soul mate.” The book (and my own research) supports the fact that you have to be very careful who you allow to enter the temple of the Most High God. The only person who has permission to do that is your HUSBAND. Another error of judgment happened because the ladies did not ask questions. Now I don’t know about you, but I am NOSY, but even I probably did more research on my camera than my husband. I still have the camera (enough said). Meet your prospective husband’s friends, relatives, co-workers—and first-grade teacher if you have to—but gather enough information to make an informed decision. The heart (and body) can lead you astray. The other huge error of judgment was in selecting men who were not saved. Scripture, again, helps us here: 2 Corinthians 6:14: "Do not be unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? What fellowship has light with darkness?" The book explores so many pitfalls and describes them all in a clear, candid fashion. For these reasons and more, I strongly recommend that ALL Christian women buy this book and share the bits that are relevant with their daughters, nieces and all other women they care about. If we can save one woman (including ourselves) from heartache (or worse), then that’ll be a fantastic start.
