AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR B40
MEETING POINT BERTEMU
KAMPUNG KERINCHI, KUALA LUMPUR [2020]
The proposed site for this Housing Project is situated in Pantai Dalam, within upcoming urban development of Kerinchi (formerly Bangsar South) urban environment. It is near to the new Universiti LRT station among some new high-rise apartments, offices, shop-house district, etc. The proposed project is a continuation learning experiences through out se mester I and II.To design affordable high-density housing complex designated for B40 groups and independent senior citizen including common facilities on the proposed development is located at the Pantai Permai, approximately 3.5 acres. A typical PPR housing is a few blocks of high rise that look like a pigeon holes. The segregation among T20, M40 and B40 among Lembah Pantai as well as the chaotic bazaar right next to the site are the main issue. However, to us the bazaar could be chaotic as it occupied the two main roads for vehicles to enter Kampung Kerinchi, including public buses but to the locals B40, it could be the most luxurious entertainment for the on every Wednesday and Saturday.
The common problem of PPR residences is lack of interaction, especially with limited common facilities and narrow corridors. The idea of the project is to bring the bazaar into the ground level of the site and elongate the axis to other areas of Lembah Pantai. The site will act as a meeting point at ground level. At the same time, the design on housing blocks above of also integrated ‘meeting point’ as the concept to foster social interaction to enhance the sense of belonging. Two housing blocks interlocking each other like ‘Jenga Block’. Every 6 floors considered as a modules - ‘neighbourhood’, namely Cluster A and B, consisting one common floor at each cluster and connected with common staircases instead of typical PPR with double loaded corridors.
7
Lack of Identity? Stereotype? Lembah Pantai is a low cost housing area?
Chaotic Site?
Due to Bazaar? Narrow road, Double parked, Noise.
Segregation
Contrast of Bangsar South & Lembah Pantai.
The site will act as a meeting point at ground level, addressing the typical pigeon hole of PPR and the same time foster sense of belongging as well as community integration within the affordable housing. Existing Bazaar will also be extended to the ground level of the site addressing the road congestion every Wednesday and Saturday.

Zoning & Expansion Carpark + Retail

Design Concept
Jenga Tower Stacking Concept
Clusterification Breakdown the stereotype tower into smaller cluster to promote sense of ownership and sense of community. (Ref: Dunbar’s Theory)
Common Floor A common floor at each cluster connected through staircase. Ie: Walkup Flat + Lift More Efficient and Cost Saving
Void Enhance CPTED, neighbourhood trust, breakdown the isolation, kids friendly.
Design Concept (Tower)
Stereotype affordable housing - Public housing - Typical typology - 15-17 floors
Smaller cluster - 3 floors per clan - Sense of belonging - Crime control - Enhance social interaction
Typical double loaded corridor - Lift opens to every floor - Narrow corridor - Poor ventilation
Meeting point at common courtyard - One lift stops at every floor while another stops only at common floor - Every 3 floors shares one common floor - Every floor is connected with stai staircase

Common Floor Communal corridor and floor serves as a meeting point of each cluster that access to each housing unit.
1 Common Stairs Staircases connected each common area and common floors, accessible to all residents, humanist scale and can reduce cost of maintenance.

Building Programmatic Scenario All common spaces are self sustainable and essential. The spaces are managed and monitored by community themselves. Each neighbourhood consisting two clusters served with 2 common floors connected all the floors with staircases easily accessible to all common spaces. With the housing unit designed spaces facing towards the common floors to enhance the social intercation and at the same time provide sense of safety intergrating CPTED into the community.

FUTURE RETAIL EXPERIENCE POST COVID-19 | THESIS PART 1
VENDING RETAIL HUB post covid-19
CHERAS VELODROME, KUALA LUMPUR [2020]
The project is a hypothetical experiment of what future retail could be after the Covid-19 pandemic based on the speculation of future. The world has changed dramatically over the first three months of 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting almost every aspect of our lives. These changes have been clearly evident in the world’s digital behaviours too, especially as billions of people turn to connected devices to help them cope with life and work under lockdown.
To reimagine the future of retail focus on sustainability, resiliency, well-being and at the same time allowing social interaction among the community. People have been shown more willingness to purchase items online now. Changes in behaviour such as needing to work from home or exploring new type of purchasing method while staying at home also present opportunities for new retail landscape. It is believe that the new norm will remains after the pandemic is over.

MOBILE LIBRARY 1.0 SJK BINTAWA, KUCHING [2015] MOBILE LIBRARY 1.0 is an on-going charity project by INTODESIGN Lab and IKA Picture Story House for the primary school students and suburban youth community with the aim of promoting: 1. Flexibility & Mobility 2. Outdoor learning experience 3. De-centralize and Complexity 4. To instill the habit of reading from an early age, to encourage the sharing of books among the community and to learn to enjoy reading. Job Scope: - Site Visit - Design a multi-use mobile library - Send to craft - Self-painting - Deliver to the school This is a development of the first model. This model explores the combination of bookshelves and planter box; the color scheme was adopted from the traditional fishing boat at Bintawa. It aims to benefit the small scale local primary school and under privilege community. This project is inspired by the “Little Free Library” introducing the concept of “borrow a book, return a book”, with objective to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations. This model explores the combination of bookshelves with terrarium planter boxes; 360º, front and back access with indoor and outdoor usage. This aims to get away from the rectilinear configuration of shelves while maintaining compactness and ease of assembly.

“TREE-SHELTER” PUTERI ISKANDAR, JOHOR [2016] Tree-Shelter introspects the human-nature relationship and is built to examine the possibility on how human intervention can coexist harmoniously with the nature. The concept of Symbiosis can be observed in the structure of the Tree-Shelter, where plants creep slowly via the steel nets and cables, not only showing the different phases of time of the growing plants, but also strengthen the structure and provide a co-constructed shelter for people to take shade underneath it. This project is hand-built by lecturer and students of the School of Architecture and Built Environment, UCSI University.
