In Club Havana, the intoxicating rhythms of the conga, rumba, mambo and cha cha are brought to life by choreographer Pedro Ruiz, himself a native of Cuba. Hailed as a “masterpiece” by the Chicago Sun-Times, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano’sCARMEN.maquia is a Picassoinspired, contemporary take on Bizet’s classic opera about a passionate gypsy. Pete’s Dragon (TBC)
Finding Dory (U)
Newcomer Oakes Fegley is the boy with a magical friend in this remake of the 1977 Disney favourite. Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) has heard stories of a magical dragon for years, from the mouth of her wood-carver father (Robert Redford), However, that’s all she thought they were – stories. That is, until she meets ten-year-old Pete (Fegley) who claims to live alone in the woods with a giant green dragon named Elliott. Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from and the truth about this mysterious dragon. However, a few other people have found out about this remarkable dragon and are intent on capturing it.
Everyone’s favourite forgetful blue tang is back at last for ‘Finding Dory’, which sees her go off on a new adventure to search for the family she forgot about. Waking up one morning, she sees a picture in her head – and comes to a shocking realisation. She remembered something! It seems impossible, but it’s true, and now she wants answers about her past. Who are her parents? Where did she come from? And how did she learn to speak Whale?

> The Travelling Gallery
THE ALT-W:BLUSH TRAVELLING RESPONSE GALLERY Travelling Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition Alt-w: Blush Response, in partnership with New Media Scotland.
SATURDAY 27 AUGUST
As part of the Festival of Architecture 2016, New Media Scotland’s Alt-w Fund has commissioned a series of new works for Travelling Gallery by artists based in Scotland and working with digital media. The Alt-w fund supports and encourages artists to explore experimental and interactive practice, making use of technology as both a platform and a medium, recognising the continuous changing role that digital culture has in our society.
Mareel Car Park FREE
The Travelling Gallery is a custom-built, mobile, contemporary art space inside a big beautiful bus, which brings high quality contemporary art exhibitions and events to schools and communities throughout Scotland. Its dual focus is to create highly engaging exhibitions and to provide a unique platform for arts education. Curated with Travelling Gallery’s diverse audience in mind, the exhibitions display innovative artistic practices, representative of the international art scene.
For Alt-w: Blush Response, each newly commissioned work will have two relating elements; a smaller work to suit the unique Travelling Gallery space and a larger work to be installed at a specific location in Scotland. During its tour of Scotland, Travelling Gallery will visit the locations of each of the larger works, and due to their proximity, the two elements of the work will ‘blush’ in response to each other.
The Travelling Gallery will tour to Aith School, Baltasound School, Sandwick School and Whalsay School as part of the Start/Bonhoga Education Programme funded by Children & the Arts with the potential for public viewing at each venue (TBC). It will be open to the public in Mareel Car Park on Saturday 27th August

“Green’s musical architecture is a wonder to behold” -FROOTS
FLIT
WEDNESDAY 2 NOVEMBER, 8pm Mareel £20 Some of today’s most influential musicians explore themes of migration through darkly atmospheric songs set within a world of breathtaking stop-motion animation. Award-winning composer and Lau’s visionary accordionist Martin Green brings together Portishead’s Adrian Utley, Mogwai’s Dominic Aitchison and Becky Unthank from The Unthanks, with BAFTA-winning animators whiterobot (Will Anderson and Ainslie Henderson) for this extraordinary live show. Flit is inspired by first-hand stories of human migration, some heart-warming, others heartbreaking and features songs and original music by Green with lyrics from Karine Polwart, Anaïs Mitchell, Sandy Wright and Aidan Moffat. Set within a captivating animated world and a haunting sonic landscape, these exquisite songs are performed by a world class band fronted by the inimitable voices of Becky Unthank and Adam Holmes. Hot on the heels of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes the third film in the DC Comics movie universe. An all-star cast including Will Smith as ace assassin Deadshot, Margot Robbie as the deranged Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as the mysterious Enchantress and Jared Leto as the Joker help bring this legendary comic book series to the big screen. A team of out-of-control supervillains are brought together by a government agency in this outrageous comic book movie. What do you do when all the superheroes of the world are tied up? The Legend of Tarzan (12A)
Jason Bourne (12A)
Edgar Rice Burroughs’ iconic hero Tarzan swings back onto our screens in this big-budget, effects-packed reboot from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows director David Yates. It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
Jason Bourne steps out of the shadows in the latest instalment of the smash-hit action franchise. The Bourne trilogy, comprising Identity, Supremacy and Ultimatum, redefined the 21st century action movie with their relentless thrills and compelling central character in the form of Matt Damon’s amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne. Having discovered his true identity at the end of 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum, Jason has gone off the grid. But an unexpected sequence of events involving former associate Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) compel him to come out of hiding and embark on a relentlessly exciting global journey, one that may lead to him to ever-more important revelations about his identity.

Me Before You
Hamish (PG) (12A)
Hamish Henderson (1919-2002) was a colossal figure in Scottish culture, a man of boundless passion and curiosity whose poems continue to elevate and inspire a nation. Robbie Fraser’s highly anticipated documentary pays tribute to the many contrary forces and diverse facets of Henderson’s life as a poet, soldier, intellectual, activist, songwriter and leading force in the revival of Scottish folk music. From an English orphanage and the draughty corridors of Cambridge to overseeing the capitulation of the Italian army in WWII and penning the most celebrated Scottish ballad in contemporary folk music “Freedom Come Aa’ Ye”, this is Henderson’s life as told by those who knew him best and loved him most. This heartfelt tribute to one of modern Scotland’s proudest sons weaves golden archive footage with the loving testimony of Henderson’s family, friends and colleagues.
Louisa Clark (Emilia Clarke) is an unambitious, recently unemployed young woman looking for a change in her life. And that’s exactly what she gets when she agrees to become a companion for handsome William Traynor (Sam Claflin), whose promising career was tragically cut short when he was paralysed in a devastating accident. Although their relationship is at first tentative and spiky, a tender romance soon develops with William ultimately teaching Louisa the importance of getting the most out of life. Based on the bestselling book by Jojo Moyes, this life-affirming romantic drama blends laughs and more than a few tears with an attractive young cast led by the stars of Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games.

Embrace Of The Serpent (12A)
It’s the beginning of summer. In a small village in northern Turkey, Lale and her four sisters are on their way home from school, innocently playing with local boys. But prying village eyes view their games with suspicion and the girls’ behaviour – and refusal to repent – quickly causes a scandal among the family. Soon the sisters find themselves locked in their bedrooms, with sober dress enforced and their schoolwork replaced by cookery classes. Their home now a prison, all the girls have to live for are arranged marriages and family honour. But together, driven by strength, courage and a desire for freedom, the five sisters fight back against the limits imposed on them and test their family ties to breaking point. Oscar nominated – best foreign language film.
Spanish with English subtitles. This strange, exquisitely shot epic follows an ailing German physician at the turn of the century as he searches for a rare plant said to have healing properties. Led by his enigmatic native guide Karamakate (Torres), Theo (Bijvoet) journeys deep into the Amazon, encountering native peoples, fellow explorers and Kurtzlike fanatics along the way. Melding breathtaking blackand-white imagery with a Conradesque vision of the jungle as a hotbed of corruption, violence and religious extremism, Guerra’s stunning film was a highlight of Cannes 2015, and was nominated for the Best ForeignLanguage Film Oscar.
