Tommy’s Honour (PG)

Gifted (12A)

Peter Mullan and Jack Lowden star in Jason Connery’s award-winning historical drama about the founders of the modern game of golf.

Chris Evans stars opposite brilliant young actress Mckenna Grace in this moving family drama. Frank Adler is a single man raising his spirited young niece Mary in a coastal town in Florida. But Mary is a child prodigy, and Frank's hopes for a normal school life for her are dashed when the seven-year-old's mathematical abilities come to the attention of her formidable grandmother Evelyn, whose plans threaten to separate Frank and Mary.

Tom Morris, the greens keeper at St Andrews in Scotland, and his ambitious, rebellious son Tommy, who became known as the greatest golfer of the 19th century, were an unbeatable team, but with radically different visions. Tom accepted his subservient ‘place’ in the rigid Victorian class system, but the ambitious Tommy fought for equality…

Churchill (PG)

Dunkirk (Cert: TBC)

Starring Brian Cox as the iconic Prime Minister, this compelling drama depicts the days preceding the D-Day landings in June 1944.

Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Memento) directs this stunningly cinematic World War II drama about the evacuation of Allied troops from the French city of Dunkirk.

As allied forces stand on the south coast of Britain, poised to invade Nazi-occupied Europe, they await Churchill’s decision on whether the invasion will proceed. But Churchill, exhausted by years of war and plagued by depression, is hesitant, fearful of repeating his mistakes on the beaches of Gallipoli during the First World War.

Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea, hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in. Dunkirk features a prestigious cast, including Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Cillian Murphy.

Gru, Lucy, the girls and the minions are back for another hilarious adventure!

The fourth film in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, adapted from the hugely successful books by Jeff Kinney.

Gru must stop former '80s child star Balthazar Bratt from achieving world domination, and gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his longlost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother Dru, who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist ...

Wimpy kid Greg convinces his family to take a road trip to attend his great grandmother's 90th birthday as a cover for what he really wants: to attend a nearby gaming convention. Unsurprisingly, things do not go according to plan, and hilarity ensues...

Captain Underpants (U)

A deliciously silly animated adventure based on the bestselling book series. This raucously subversive comedy tells the story of two overly imaginative pranksters named George and Harold, who hypnotise their principal into thinking he's an enthusiastic but incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants. That proves to be a good thing when it’s revealed that the new science teacher, Professor Poopypants, has an evil plan to stop children from laughing...

Hoping to get back in the game, he turns to Cruz Ramirez, an eager young technician who has her own plans for winning. With inspiration from the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns, No. 95 prepares to compete on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage.

> ScreenHorizons

Screen Horizons is the new name for Screen Wednesdays. We’ll still be bringing you the best of independent and world cinema, classic films and documentaries, but now the first screening of each film will be at 5pm on Sundays, with the repeat at 8pm the following Wednesdays. We hope you enjoy this month’s selection of great films!

Frantz (12A) Anna, a bereft young German woman whose fiancé, Frantz, was killed in the war, is intrigued when Adrien, a French veteran of the war, appears in her town and visits Frantz's grave. Adrien's presence is met with suspicion by the community, but Anna gradually gets closer to the melancholy young man, as she learns of his deep friendship with Frantz.

After the Storm (PG)

The Other Side of Hope (12A)

Dwelling on his past glory as a prize-winning author, Ryota wastes the money he makes as a private detective on gambling, and can barely pay child support. After the death of his father, he renews contact with his initially distrusting family, and struggles to take back control of his existence and to find a lasting place in the life of his young son.

Khaled arrives at the port of Helsinki concealed in a coal container, fleeing war-torn Syria to seek asylum in Finland. Dazed and frustrated by the monolithic administration he encounters at the detention centre, he heads out onto the streets. There he meets Wikström, a former shirt salesman who has recently left his alcoholic wife for a new life as a bachelor restaurateur.

The Journey (12A)

David Lynch: The Art Life (15)

The Journey is a fictional account of the negotiations between the two political adversaries – firebrand Democratic Unionist Party leader Ian Paisley and Sinn Fein politician Martin McGuinness – that transpired, not in some hallowed hall but, rather, in a car traversing the Scottish countryside.

Lynch recounts the influence his youth had on him as an artist and his subsequent move into filmmaking. Combining home movies, stock footage, moody artworks and observations of him working on his paintings and sculptures, David Lynch: The Art Life is an immersive and compelling experience, with a deliciously strange and beautiful soundtrack.
