But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save -- his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright).

Mozart
String Quintet No.4 in G minor, K516
Brahms
String Quintet No.2 in G major, Op.111
Martin Suckling Nocturne
In the key of G, five Scottish Ensemble musicians take you from minor to major with two beautifully crafted quintets by two masters of the form.
COMING UP...
Written in G minor, a key long associated in Mozart’s work with agitation, anguish and desperation, it’s easy to see why this, and Mozart’s five other quintets, are considered so spectacular, and said to pave the way for the romantic model - the model which was perfected and, arguably, transcended by Brahms in his second quintet. In fact, it was intended as his last ever work- in his own words, he had said all he had to say as a composer.
THU 21 APR | VIOLIN & CELLO DUOS Cellist Alison Lawrance and violinist Cheryl Crockett perform this arrangement of Halvorsen’s Passacaglia for violin & viola. Music by Beethoven, Bach, Bartók and more.
JUN 2016 | SE SHETLAND RESIDENCY
Glasgow-born composer Martin Suckling’s Nocturne provides something different altogether: its feather-light, ethereal, lingering slides and tones will stay with you long after the performance ends.
Scottish Ensemble set up on the island for four days of events, from workshops to concerts to pop-up performances.
Supported by Inksters Solicitors. In partnership with Shetland Arts.

Hail, Caesar! (12A)
A Bigger Splash (15)
Four-time Oscar (R)-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.
Rock legend Marianne Lane is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue. Taking place under the Mediterranean sun, A Bigger Splash is a story of rock and roll, desire, and jealousy, focusing on an intense whirlwind of emotions good and bad, between lovers new and old.
Anomalisa (15)
Spotlight (15)
OSCAR NOMINATED - Best Animated Feature.
OSCAR NOMINATED - Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor & Actress in a Supporting Role, Writing (Original Screenplay) & Editing.
A darkly comic and surreal stop-motion journey of a man’s dark night of the soul. David Thewlis stars as Michael Stone, a man crippled by the mundanity of his life. On a business trip to Cincinnati, where he’s scheduled to speak at a convention of customer service professionals, he checks into the Fregoli Hotel. There, he is amazed to discover a possible escape from his desperation in the form of an unassuming Akron baked goods sales rep, Lisa, who may or may not be the love of his life. A beautifully tender and absurdly humorous dreamscape from the minds of Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich) and Duke Johnson
Directed by Oscar nominee Tom McCarthy and starring Mark Ruffalo (Avengers) & Michael Keaton (Birdman) Spotlight tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world’s oldest and most trusted institutions. When the newspaper’s tenacious “Spotlight” team of reporters delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their yearlong investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston’s religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world.

The Witch (15) Sinister new horror film from debut director Robert Eggers. New England, 1630: William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. “The Witch” is a chilling portrait of a family unraveling within their own fears and anxieties, leaving them prey for an inescapable evil.
The Finest Hours (12A) In February of 1952, one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast struck New England, damaging an oil tanker off the coast of Cape Cod and literally ripping it in half. On a small lifeboat faced with frigid temperatures and 70-foot high waves, four members of the Coast Guard set out to rescue the more than 30 stranded sailors trapped aboard the rapidly-sinking vessel. Based on a true story, Chris Pine and Casey Affleck star in this thrilling and dramatic adaptation of what is considered to be the greatest small boat rescue in coastguard history.
Triple 9 (15) Starring Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Afleck, Aaron Paul and Woody Harrelson. A crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down”. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
Secret in Their Eyes (15) A tight-knit team of rising FBI investigators – Ray (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Jess (Julia Roberts), along with their District Attorney supervisor Claire (Nicole Kidman) - is suddenly torn apart when they discover that Jess’s teenage daughter has been brutally and inexplicably murdered. Now, thirteen years later, after obsessively searching every day for the elusive killer, Ray finally uncovers a new lead that he’s certain can permanently resolve the case, nail the vicious murderer, and bring long-desired closure to his team. No one is prepared, however, for the shocking, unspeakable secret that will reveal the enduring, destructive effects of personal vengeance on the human soul.
Grimsby (15) Dimwitted Nobby (Sacha Baron Cohen) lives in an English fishing town with his loving girlfriend (Rebel Wilson) and nine children. Nobby finds out that his long-lost sibling Sebastian (Mark Strong) is a top MI6 assassin who’s just uncovered a sinister plot. Wrongfully accused and on the run, Sebastian now realizes that he needs Nobby’s help to save the world!

Nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and the only British folk representation in The Guardian’s and Uncut’s best albums of last decade (worldwide, all genres), The Unthanks is a family affair for Tyneside sisters Rachel and Becky Unthank. Definable only by their restless eccentricity, there are no easy one-liners to capture who or what The Unthanks are, or much point in guessing what they’ll do next.
