An opportunity to experience Shetland and it’s thriving traditional music culture. The festival is curated for the first time by sisters Jenna & Bethany Reid who alongside other well known Shetland players will teach tunes of the local repertoire helping develop techniques to create that distinctive Shetland sound.
Music classes available are Shetland fiddle, catering for all abilities from advanced to beginners and guitar accompaniment. For non-musicians, the Shetland Fiddle Frenzy Fringe will include a range of arts activities and cultural trips. Lerwick’s cultural quarter becomes the Festival’s new home with classes taking place in Mareel, Shetland’s new cinema and music venue and the adjacent Shetland Museum & Archives both located right on the busy waterfront of Lerwick’s harbour. Evening events include an exciting line up of concerts with headliners Fiddlers’ Bid, Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham, Haltadans, Lau, Jenna & Bethany Reid and Bryan Gear with Violet Tulloch. Packages Full week includes all classes and gigs £400 (£300 concession) Classes only Week of classes £350 (£250 concession) Day of classes £70 (£50 concession) available from 1 June Gig tickets available to buy individually
