TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP AND TICKET ALLOCATIONS The BIG Takeover – Shetland 2018 The Big Takeover is a Shetland Event managed by a partnership of local organisations and young people, including Shetland Islands Council, Shetland Arts Development Agency, Shetland Recreational Trust, Shetland Museum and Archives, Voluntary Action Shetland and VisitScotland. Each partners is responsible for the management of The BIG Takeover events happening in their respective venues. By accepting or purchasing a membership for The BIG Takeover or being in possession of a ticket for a BIG Takeover event you are accepting the following terms and conditions. Membership wristbands are non-returnable and non-transferable unless in exceptional circumstances. Membership wristbands must be collected from one of the designated collection points and fitted in advance of the weekend in order to use the public transport and attend events. Damaged or detached wristbands will not be replaced unless the original wristband is returned at the same time. Lost wristbands will not be replaced. You agree to purchase the correct category of membership for your age group and understand that where required by staff, you will have to provide separate proof of your age e.g. to purchase alcohol at any of the venues or attend a movie with an age restriction. Membership wristbands must be worn at all times over the event weekend to demonstrate your eligibility to receive free services and participate in certain activities. This include free access to services such as travel on internal ferries and buses and free entry to activities such as swimming at Clickimin Pool and the Inflatable Extravaganza. When using public transport or attending an event or activity, children who are members and are in secondary 1 and younger, must be accompanied by an adult i.e. adult member, ticket holding adult or parent carer, guardian over the age of 18 (a maximum ratio of 6 children to each adult is required). The decision to allow a young person, in secondary 2 and older, to use public transport or attend an event or activity on their own is strictly at the discretion of their parents, carers or guardians. You acknowledge, because of the potentially high number of people using the bus and ferry services, that having a membership does not guarantee you a place on these services, which may be fully occupied or fully booked. Everyone who enters the event facilities and takes part in Big Takeover activities does so at their own risk. The event and the facilities being used will not be held liable by you for any loss, injury or damage sustained within any of our facilities unless we are found to be negligent. We reserve the right to refuse you entry to, or eject you from any of our event facilities in reasonable circumstances including for health and safety reasons; if you behave in a manner which has or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other persons at the Event; if You use threatening, abusive or insulting words, behaviour or mannerisms; if you are found in possession of any prohibited item or substance; if in our reasonable opinion you are acting under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We reserve the right to confiscate any item, which in our reasonable opinion may cause danger or disruption to any other persons at any of our event facilities. These terms and conditions are subject to Scots law.

No animals are allowed in any of our event facilities except for assistance dogs. At all times you must observe safety signage and comply with all instructions given to you by our event and facilities staff and stewards. In the event of an emergency you may need to evacuate part or all of the site/facility. Please follow directions to the safest exit, leaving as quickly and safely as possible. Anyone attending the event under the influence or in possession of alcohol will be refused entry. By attending an event or activity, you give your express consent to your likeness to be included within any film, photograph, audio and/or audio-visual recording to be used in any media for any purpose at any time including for promotional purposes. Some elements of the event are outdoors and on grass. You are strongly advised to bring appropriate clothing and footwear to protect against potential inclement weather. Some elements of the event will get participants wet. You are strongly advised to take a change of clothes for any participants taking part in these activities. You may be prosecuted if you cause damage to the facilities, their infrastructure, or cause harm to any other person at the event or activity. Where necessary, we reserve the right to make alterations to the published programme of events and activities. You agree to abide by the standard terms and condition for use of public transport services in Shetland. You agree to abide by the standard terms and conditions for all our event facilities including Mareel, Garrison Theatre, Shetland Museum and Archives, Shetland Library, Clickimin Leisure Complex, Islesburgh Community Centre, Gilbertson Park and any other facilities used as part of the programme. Tickets are non-returnable unless in exceptional circumstances. No duplicate tickets will be issued. Tickets may not be sold, resold or used for any promotional purpose without the written agreement of the Event. Your ticket may be invalidated if any part of it is removed, altered or defaced. Lost, stolen or damaged tickets will not be replaced. Keep your ticket and stub safe and in good condition. Only customers holding valid tickets will be admitted to events and tickets will be checked on entry to events and activities taking place over the weekend.
Warning – Excessive exposure to loud music may cause damage to your hearing. Please note that pyrotechnics, lasers, smoke machines, strobe lighting or other special effects may take place during some performances.
