Student life at Shetland College UHI
Shetland’s people are famed as being easy-going, friendly and for having a great community spirit. Shetland has excellent leisure facilities, inspiring landscapes, a reasonably good night life (including events linked to the annual Up Helly Aa fire festival) and a unique island lifestyle. Shetland really is a great place to be a student. The staff at Shetland College UHI work hard to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for our students. Briggistanes, our cafe and social area, provides a vibrant and relaxed atmosphere which allows space for students to interact and socialise between classes. There are various opportunities available to help enhance your learning experience ranging from vocational work placements to volunteering opportunities in areas including graphic design, marketing and student representation as part of our college committees. We are delighted to be working with and supporting our new depute president for HISA, which is the Highlands and Islands Student Association. HISA is there to represent all students and locally we are looking forward to seeing the launch of new clubs, societies and events for students as well as much more.
