What are the entry requirements? Entry requirements can vary from course to course, particularly for certificated qualifications. Generally, for Highers the entry requirement is 1 National 5 (or equivalent) for applicants of school leaving age. For PDA or HNC courses the entry requirement is 1 Higher (or equivalent) for applicants of school leaving age. These entry requirements can be waived for mature applicants, depending on experience.

How much will my course cost? Course prices are included in the ‘class times’ section of this booklet. Part-time students normally pay their own fees unless entitled to any of the support detailed below. If you feel you are entitled to any of these sources of funding then please refer to the relevant contact details.

What funding is available? Fee Waivers: If your household receives certain means tested benefits or you have a low household income, then you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Individual Learning Accounts (ILA): You may be able to use your ILA funding to help pay for approved classes. These classes will be marked by the Skills Development Scotland brand mark:

SDS Individual Learning Accounts (ILAs) are a Scottish Government scheme that can help you pay for learning that you can do at a time, place, pace and in a way to suit you. It’s for people who have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or who are on benefits.

3

If you are 16 or over and living in Scotland, you could be eligible for up to £200 towards the cost of learning with a learner account. ILAs are available if you are interested in learning something new or brushing up your skills. There are a range of courses to choose from and you can study with any approved ILA learning provider, including local colleges, universities and private training companies.

You must have your ILA in place before you start your course. To request an application pack, or to find out more, see the website:

www.myworldofwork.co.uk/funding or call the helpline on 0800 917 8000*. *Please note: charges may apply dependent on your operator.

HE Fee Grants: If you are studying at SCQF Level 7 to 10 (for example, an HNC or above), earn less than £25K and studying 30-119 SCQF credits you may be entitled to apply for the SAAS Part-time Fee Grant to meet the costs of your fees. For more information see:

www.saas.gov.uk Need some advice about fees or funding? Contact the college to speak with our Guidance Coordinator.

It is a student’s responsibility to arrange their course funding, and failure to do so promptly will result in an invoice being sent for the full cost of study. 4
