Quick Recap

Welcome to all the new members that just joined this year! It seems as though Key Club has had a huge amount of success in recruiting new members, especially on clubs day, with enough new members to fill out two entire pages! With school finally started now, after being delayed for 3 weeks, its safe to assume that a lot of us have catching up to do. Hopefully, this won't delay your commitment to key club! Now, what did we do this month? The main event that happened was the Vancouver 10K Eastside Run. The event required at least 300 people to run smoothly, so our key club decided to step up and send 8 of our very best volunteers. Thanks to the volunteers from our school, along side volunteers from numerous other schools throughout Vancouver and the greater Vancouver area, we were able to make the event a huge success.

! As many of you may know, a "Key" goal for this club is to have at least one fundraiser per month. The reason behind this goal is to raise money for the selected charity for Kiwanis International. This year the selected charity is Project ELIMINATE, which is a collaboration between Kiwanis International and UNICEF (United Nation's Children's Fund). Project ELIMINATE aims to eradicate maternal and neonatal tetanus, which takes nearly 60,000 innocent babies lives yearly. Whats worse is that the symptoms of the disease as serve, ranging from repeated painful convulsions, to being extremely sensitive to light and touch. The fundraiser that our key club has planned currently for this month is a Hot Chocolate Sale. The idea will be brought up the next meeting and further developed in the next meeting. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact any of the key club executives!Â
