Wellness Day
Do’s
(April 15th - 26 th)
Hello All, I am very pleased to announce the fifth “Wellness Day” for Microsoft India across 8 cities and 16 Microsoft office locations. Over the past years, Wellness Day has focused on increasing the employees’ awareness on most relevant health issues impacting IT workforce as well as undergo on-site health check-up’s to assess employees’ personal health risks. The Wellness Day program received exceedingly positive feedback last year from employees across all our offices in 8 cities. The employee participation has grown to 37% over the years across MS India. Wellness Day 2013 comes with an exhaustive offering of on-site health tests like BMI, Biometrics, Blood sugar, Blood pressure, CBC, Lipid Profile & ECG. In addition to a wider variety of health tests, we are also offering a detailed report preparation and doctor’s consultation to better understand the employees’ health risks and suggest suitable interventions. This year we are also introducing the Health Risk Assessment Tool. We will shortly communicate the methodology for completing that. The schedule for each location has been planned as below: l Day 1 – Blood samples collection l Day 3 – Reports distribution and consultation with Doctor & completion of HRA questionnaire Similar to last year, we have an online registration link for reducing the wait time of employees on the event date. The registration links will be sent to you a week before your location’s Wellness Day. Once employees register on the tool, they will automatically receive an outlook calendar invite for their appointment. I strongly urge you to make an “investment” in your health on the Wellness Day. Please watch out for more details on the health camp in your location. Regards, Rohit Schedule for your locations is as follows

l Drink Water: Fasting without drinking water may cause your body to go into stress. By drinking water, it will keep you hydrated and will help to find a good spot to draw blood. l Take Prescription Medication: Unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, all prescription medications should be taken as normal with a drink of water. l Fast for at least 10 hours: In order to obtain accurate blood results you must fast for at least 10 hours. Examples of tests that can be affected if you have not been fasting for this amount of time are blood sugars, cholesterol and iron. Don’ts l Don’t Eat or Drink Anything (other than water): Drinking anything other than water (yes, even coffee) or eating anything, can influence your blood test results. Fasting overnight usually makes it easier for people so book your blood test early in the day l Don’t Chew Gum: If the tests that are being done require fasting, please do not chew gum. Most chewing gums, or candy contain ingredients that can affect some of your blood test results. l Don’t Fast for More Than 16 Hours: If you fast for longer than 16 hours, metabolic changes begin to happen that can influence some blood test levels. Therefore, we will not have an accurate picture of what your actual blood work looks like. l Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours before the tests l Don’t exercise immediately before the tests. Relax and keep calm during the readings l Don’t have any caffeine before the fasting blood sugar and BP tests as it can cause a small, but detectable rise in blood sugar levels, affecting the test results. l Don’t wear any jewelry or carry cell phone in order to avoid electromagnetic disturbances in ECG readings
