At the same time, these spaces are organically connected with columns and cambered surfaces. Direct and indirect traffic flows in the space can allow people to freely choose their space of solitude. A waterway running through the whole place can also guide the second patient.

THE SECOND PATIENT In China, 7.5 people have cancer every minute. Behind the statistics are cancer patients and their families. The families of these patients have a common name---the second patient. When they learn that their family member is ill or suffering, these second patients often feel the pain, anger, self-blame, and fear. The particularity of the hospital can not provide a suitable place for secondary patients to vent their emotions.

Lack of private space

Through extensive r e s e a r c h a n d documentaries, I found that, in hospitals, second patients face emotional breakdowns all the t i m e . H o w e v e r, t h e r e is no private space for them to unburden their emotions in hospital places. Therefore, second patients had to choose semi-public spaces such as corners, turnings, and corridors.

Public In public spaces, second patients often try to conceal their grief by forcing back their emotions. For example, they might squat down, hit themselves, lean against the wall, etc... However, this is not a healthy way to relieve the mood of the second patient.

Semi-public Only in semi-public spaces, can second patients can display behaviours such as crying. They often hide in corners or turnings, which requires them to first find a place before relieve their emotional burden covertly.

Private Research and documentaries show that hospitals hardly have private space, which means that second patients lack a place where they can freely vent their emotions.

When they feel comfort Behavioral characteristics of the second patient The research revealed that the mood of second patients would improve when there are windows. They would look out through the window to relieve their emotions.

After research, I found that second patients often don't want to be seen when they are in emotional pain. However, due to the environment of the hospital, they can only relieve their emotions in some relatively unpopulated places such as corners and corridors.

Therefore, based on their tendency to look out of the window, I enumerated and analyzed the changes in the line of sight and light and shadows.

3

SITE ANALYSIS

CONCEPT

The site is the Ruijin Hospital in Luwan District, Shanghai. The research revealed that outpatient clinics, wards, and the radiotherapy and chemotherapy building in the hospital receive a large number of patients and their families every day. Therefore, I marked the places where second patients often relieve their emotions and categorized the places with colors in different shades according to the force of their emotions. The park in the hospital was found to be place where they often go.

N

MASTER PLAN

I chose one outpatient building and two ward buildings that second patients visit more frequently. Based on the flow of people, the central green space in the central park is chosen for the design. As the emotional needs of second patients emphasize concealment and privacy, I chose a subsided design.

There are ten independent spaces distributed in the community, which have different ways to set windows. These different ways of setting windows and shielding can create various changes in light and shadow. When people look out through the windows or relieve their emotions, the unique light environment can relieve the stress and calm the second patient. The change of light and shadow allow them to feel the passage of time and feel calm and relief on a difficult day. At the same time, a waterway has been designed to run through every place, allowing people to follow the waterway and find an independent space when when entering in this community.

Wandering In Memorytower ------- Lenghu Oil Base Memorial Tower

Architecture 10-2021 Lenghu Oil base, Lenghu, Qinghai rovince 15,303*81,767*67,665*mm Independent

Lenghu Oil Base is located in the north of Qaidam Basin, Qinghai Province, at the junction of Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. It is named Lenghu Oil Base because it is located near Lenghu. Generations of oil workers have dedicated their youth there, had their own homes, and created beautiful memories of that passionate era. However, after the oil is extracted, people left the area. There are only collapsing buildings corroded by saline-alkali rainwater and the cinder and slags left from oil drilling at the base. This project aims to use and transform as best these dangerous buildings and local materials to build a landmark to commemorate the contribution of the older generation of oil workers to the industry. It is a spatialized a poem. The design creates different spatial atmospheres so that visitors can feel the stories told by time and environment in the site of Lenghu Oil Base from different viewing perspectives and path rhythms.

The past should not be forgotten.

10

SITE ANALYSIS

TIMELINE & PROBLEMS

According to the site research, I found that there used to be schools, hospitals, dance halls, cinemas, hotels, and inns at the base. Later, residents left because of the lack of oil resources and the harsh natural environment. Therefore, a large number of architectural sites have been left behind. There is an eye-catching building with red walls. It used to be a local art gallery. Therefore, I chose it as the architectural center of the memorial tower. At the same time, two abandoned buildings near the art gallery were selected as the guidance space.

At the same time, a darker passage was built in the later period of the guidance space to contrast with the first light space of the memorial tower and enhance the visitors' feelings. The different forms of the steel frame structure combined with brick are also analysed. Finally, echoes are made with the previous poem: A visit to the memorial tower from the first perspective of an oil worker's ghost.

MOVIE BOARD

-The movie board tells the story of the soul of a deceased oil worker as he makes his way through the Cold Lake Memorial Tower. One can feel the changes in light and shadow, or see the changing landscape through different ways of viewing: blurred - confined - clear. -According to the division of emotions in the previous poem, the interior of the building is divided into different atmospheric phases: calm - excitement - climax - calm . The division of the building space corresponds to the atmosphere from: arrays and narrow spaces as introductory spaces - large spaces small spaces - open platforms

MOVIE BOARD -The different types of windows are used as divisions for the different stages, creating different atmospheres by using the changes in light and shadow and the views restricted by the windows. -In the architectural space visitors see artificially manipulated light and at the same time feel the variation of natural light and shadow. Artificial light and natural light are interwoven in the space.

There is a pair of eyes underneath!

The Tube —— Countryside life in tube

Regional planning and Architecture 10-2021 Chunyang village, Nanchong,Sichuan Province Collaboration---Function Blocks Design

Great changes have taken place in rural China since China implemented the poverty alleviation policies in the 1970s. Modern new villages are gradually taking shape, but in the process of formation, some problems in Chinese villages need to be solved. Under this background, through research and analysis, we found that there are many problems among rural areas in China such as unbalanced economic development, inability to drive the surrounding economy, and the single output between urban and rural areas.

-阡陌交通,鸡犬相闻

My group believes that the core reasons for these problems are the natural geographical factors and barriers between villages and the later imbalance of infrastructure distribution caused by the government policies. To solve this problem, we started with the core element, namely the traffic, combined it with the concept of the pipeline, and planned to connect each settlement village with pipelines. At the same time, to preserve the characteristic of family settlement in Chinese rural areas, we designed large and small points to ensure efficient production under the rural characteristics of the traditional settlement nature and improve the material exchange and contact between villages. The TUBE system will gradually form a global rural network.

-Each road is connected to other roads. One could hear what another one says in everyday life.

17

SITE ANALYSIS Through research, we chose the area in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, with Chunyangshan Village as the core village. Chunyangshan Village is one of the villages with strong support from the government. In addition to the traditional primary industry, the villagers also have their income from the tertiary industry such as tourism. However, research and analysis show that the rich business segments and income of Chunyangshan Village have not driven the economic development of surrounding villages. The analysis revealed that the two core factors of backwardness in transportation and fragmentation of businesses were causing a vicious cycle.

According to the statistics and comparison of the business segments in the villages around Chunyangshan Village, Chunyangshan and its surrounding villages still depend on the primary industry as the main production resources. At the same time, the agricultural land is fragmented, which makes it impossible to carry out efficient and unified production. These two factors lead to the inability of the surrounding villages to develop, making them more and more backward.

PLAN STRATEGY

Identifying large nodes

Connecting with tubes

Adapting to the terrain

Add small nodes

Regulate the business

Adding functional blocks

N SCALE: 1:5000

MASTERPLAN

The tendency of family settlement in Chinese villages is obvious. To ensure this feature, large points are set in densely populated areas for villagers to live and socialize. On this basis, the concept of tubes is implanted to connect the points and make them hubs of transportation. After that, the tubes are adjusted according to the terrain and the conditions of existing roads. Small points are also added to ensure the exchange and storage of supplies such as water and electricity. The terrain with an undulation greater than 15° is planned for forestry development and the terrain with an undulation less than 15° is planned for agriculture. This can converge segments to the greatest extent and improve the utilization rate of land. Finally, function modules are implanted on the tubes, including those of housing, forestry, fishing, and agriculture.

19

BIG NODE

SMALL NODE The big nodes are mainly used as symbolic spiritual places for villagers to socialize and communicate. Large-scale public places such as upper-level social activities and fairs are set up at large points. There are tubes and transit places for traffic inside.

The small nodes are mainly used for storing and transiting materials. At the same time, the long corridor aboveground can be used as a place for processing crops. It is a place where various activities can be carried out.

Transportations

Transmission of artifacts

Machines on Behalf of Transmission

The big nodes provide people with a variety of social places such as the traditional fairs in the countryside. Villagers can sell their products among themselves while, to a certain extent, attracting tourists. It can drive the development of the tertiary industry.

The long corridor of the small nodes can be used by villagers for traditional handicraft creation such as drying crops. At the same time, they also provide a place for the elderly to rest and socialize.

20

FUNCTION BLOCKS Design the connection mode of pipes. A conveyor belt for material transportation is designed between tubes. The conveyor belt is arranged in the shape of circles so that supplies can be transported to as many parts of the tubes as possible. According to the distribution of the existing modules, they are adapted and combined to form function modules with different lengths for residence, agriculture, forestry, and fishery. They are connected by the traffic tubes throughout.

PROGRAM Tubes in the fishery area have different sections such as the fingerling raising area, adult fish area, and disinfection area. The internal and external circulation tubes are provided with a monitoring mechanism, which can monitor the situation of the fish at any time. In the agricultural and forestry spaces, there are places for harvesting, storage, and packing. Unmanned aerial vehicles can carry out works such as high-altitude sowing, disinfection, watering, reaping and binding and so on. Remember Matsuko —— Transform memories of Matsuko into an architecture

Architecture 9-2020 Huangchuan River, Tokyo, Japan 27785*30596*127921*mm Independent

The movie Memories of Matsuko tells the story of Matsuko. As a child, she has been neglected by her father and gradually formed a habit of pleasing others. She constantly gives and gets hurt in romantic relationships, losing hope for life. Finally, with the encouragement of her best friend and sister, she rekindles her hope but is beaten to death by a group of teenagers in a park. I used Matsuko's life as an entry point for the design, analysing the positive and negative influences of the characters on Matsuko, and using the relationships of others on Matsuko to derive the final architectural form. The site of the project was chosen beside the Arakawa River, where Matsuko finally lived and died, to recreate the life of Matsuko in an architectural form. Visitors can walk through Matsuko's life via a circular ramp and an internal staircase. I was deeply touched by Matsuko's inability to love herself and her excessive devotion to others in the film, so I hope that through this project I can express that everyone should know how to love themselves and that only when they learn to love themselves can they be able to love others.

Even if I'm beaten, it's better than being alone...

The venue is beside the Arakawa River where Matsuko lives in the end. This river is the place where Matsuko often goes in the last stage of her life and where she is killed by the teenagers. By setting the venue here, I intend to review Matsuko's life and remind visitors to love themselves. By visualizing the positive or negative effects of different people on Matsuko in chronological order, we can see that Matsuko has been receiving a lot of negative emotions in the first half of her life.

SPACE ANALYSIS Through the influence of each of the characters in Matsuko's life, they are superimposed and extrapolated to create the architectural form with Matsuko as its essence. The spaces are connected by a circular ramp and an interior staircase. One side of the circular staircase leads up to the Arakawa River, where visitors may be able to empathise with the comfort that the Arakawa River brings to Matsuko at a time of despair in her life. Desired city —— Visualize the Invisible Cities --- Zodeide Click here to see whole projecting video: https://youtu.be/P-reJlcjv_s

Installation 10-2019 500*1000*100mm Independent Everyone has their own memories and imagination of their city. The aim of this project is to make people's imaginary cities tangible and to design their own cities through web pages.I used Zodeide from the chapter City & Desired in the book Invisible Cities as an example to design patterns, interactive installations and web pages.

The human is the desire and the demand incarnation,is the innumerable desire congealment. ----Schopenhauer Arther

A visualisation of the city of Zobeide from the book called Invisible City. This article is about a large number of men who come to Zobeida and try to trap a woman by changing the structure of the city, but in the end, the only people trapped in Zobeide are the men themselves. I picked two words and six verbs to visualize the city---- Zobeide. Through the extraction of elements in four paintings by Gustav Klimt, six red graphic codes corresponding to six verbs were designed. These red figures represent desire. Using projection, the figures gradually spread on the model, like males desire in the book, gradually eroding the city of Zobeida. At the same time, I also designed a interactive website, where people can choose verbs according to their own wishes. Arrange and combine the selected verbs for projection. In designing such an interaction, I believe that everyone has desires, and everyone's desires are different, but we need to control our desires so that we will not be eroded by desires.

INSPIRATION THOUGHTS

ZOBEIDA

After reading Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, I imagined each city differently through the words in the book. This made me think that different people have different imaginations of cities due to their experiences and age. So I wanted to design an installation that would visualise people's imaginary cities and allow them to design their own cities. I chose Zodeide from the Chapter---Desired City in Invisible Cities as an example for this project.

DESIRE MAN VS WOMEN

ARTICLE ANALYZE

It is written that Zobeide ends up being trapped only by the men themselves, and that the desire of the men turns the city into "ugly city".

This article is about a large number of men who come to Zobeide and try to trap a woman by changing the structure of the city, but in the end, the only people trapped in Zobeide are the men themselves. I have selected two nouns used by men in the text to manipulate the city: stair ,arcade to make model. Six verbs were also selected for coding design.

MAN VS WOMEN

DESIRE

The theme of this chapter is City and desired. Based on my research, I found that the colour red is often used to represent desire in a large number of films and paintings. So I chose the colour red to represent desire.

Medicine ---Gustav Klimt

The Fall ---Tarsem Singh

Sexual

The text said that Zodeide wa s o rig in a lly a "wh ite city". My design reflects the spread of desire through the front-to-back comparison between the white city and the red city.

Death

In my research, I found that Klimt also produced paintings of women over a period of time. However, I felt that his paintings were more straightforward in men and women's expression of love, sex and desire than other painters, and women in his paintings had a unique mystique. So I chose his paintings as the starting point for my design.

CODING

I chose four paintings by Klimt and extracted the figures that appeared many times in the paintings. Finally, I selected six graphics corresponding to the six verbs I selected in Invisible Cities.

Based on these six graphics, I designed six codes. They all have a red color, and at the same time they will gradually increase and spread over time.

MODEL PROCESS A pattern corresponds to a verb in the article. I used xuan paper to make the Zodeide that I understand, and then use the projection to gradually spread the pattern on the model, just as what the artcle said the man’s desire is constantly eroding the Zobeide.
