Alumni Mentoring Program (AMP) Class of 2022 Briefing – Part I April 2022 AMP carries on the USNA Mission for Alumni to "assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government."
Value of the Alumni Mentor Program • Connections and shared experiences at the Naval Academy will be some of the most important in your life – Bonds with the institution, your company-mates, teammates and individuals will last forever
• You have learned to trust each other in ways only imagined by attendees at other institutions – You know life and death decisions are more than talking points or the hypothetical – You are trained war-fighters, expected to be prepared for whatever you may be asked to do
• Alumni understand what you have been through, how it feels and what is expected of newly minted officers – They have been there and done what you are about to do
• AMP offers the opportunity to connect with more experienced Alumni who have willingly volunteered to share the wisdom they have accumulated with you – When you know what they know, you will make better decisions and produce better results – This opportunity is a priceless gift from the Class of 1969 for all Alumni 2

Appendix The Local Chapter Advisor Program was introduced with the Class of 2019. Its purpose is to connect new officers with Alumni living in or near your first duty station to assist in getting around and settled in that area. The 14 participating Chapters are located near the most common first duty stations. You and your Chapter Advisor mutually drive your relationship. Assistance can range from • Lodging and commute • Auto • Transport and parking • Local protocols for liberty/activities/partying/dating • Networking and local contacts • Engage in Chapter events and activities – Sporting events – Dinners and gatherings – Guest speaker events – Other ad-hoc events and activities The USNA Alumni Association first sends requests for Chapter Advisors to each participating Chapter after graduation, and then as new requests or updates are made. Job Level is used in the matching algorithm • Protégés will be matched with Mentors up to 3 levels senior • Designed to match with Mentors who have most recently “been there and done that” • Keep current so you are matched with Mentors at the appropriate job level
