SpawningPool is a literary arts chapbook published at Shippensburg University by a small, dedicated team of undergraduate students. It is composed of art pieces submitted by undergraduate students of the university.
SpawningPool accepts rolling submissions throughout the year, and we publish our chapbook every spring semester.
SpawningPool is a publication of The Reflector, which also accepts year-round, and is compiled each fall semester.

Throughout the creation of this book, I’ve had a lot of time to think about the arts and the state that it is in these days. We have always fought to get art submissions, so I’d like to say thank you to all the artists who decided to share their art with the world. I hope you all keep creating and putting yourselves out there because you have something special to share.
I hope while you look through these pieces, you can delve into your own form of retrospection, whether it be through art or sharing memories with others, it is important to keep memories and connections alive.
I would like to give a special thanks to Katie Huston for coordinating the making of the cover, by getting everyone together, and spending countless hours doodling and formatting. Thank you,
Gretchen Lambie
Gretchen and I chose “retrospection” as the SpawningPool theme because it fully encapsulates the artistic process. In all its forms, art draws on the reflection of the past experiences of its artists. This year, our published artists reflect on school, the 2010s, and simply life itself.
I would like to thank all of our artists that submitted for this year’s SpawningPool. I am extremely proud to share all of your talents with everyone through this journal. Keep creating art in everything you do! I would also like to thank all of the wonderful “doodlers” that contributed to the cover of the SpawningPool.
And finally, I want to shoutout and thank Gretchen for putting up with my crazy schedule this year, while we put together this journal. Genuinely, none of this could have been done without her. Thank you,
Katie HustonColby Page
