We take sustainability seriously with energy efficient practices and academic programs dedicated to creating a more sustainable future. In fact, we have several majors dedicated to environmental wellness. Our campus farm and community garden gives students a place to grow their learning. StewardShip Week brings the campus together annually for sustainabilityfocused programs and a celebration of Earth Day. In 2020, the university signed a climate commitment to a future integrating carbon neutrality and community resilience planning.

Ship opens doors to service opportunities and enhanced study through its honors, Peace Corps Prep, ROTC, study abroad and pre-professional programs. Depending on your field of study, you may have an opportunity to pursue a dual or advanced degree as part of an accelerated program. Wood Honors College | offers talented students enriching undergraduate experiences. It offers many curricular and extracurricular opportunities while promoting scholarship, leadership, service and exploration. Benefits include small classes, priority scheduling, an honors residence hall option, and special undergraduate research, service-learning and study abroad opportunities. Peace Corp Prep | prepares you for international development careers and Peace Corps service. The program is open to all undergraduate students on campus. It does not guarantee selection into the Peace Corps, but those with certification are twice as likely to be hired. Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) | readies you to serve as a United States Army officer while you pursue your education. You may serve on active duty or in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard upon graduation. Study Abroad | combines education with adventure. Many academic programs encourage studying in another country to complement your learning experience.

At SHIP YOU can live your best life. With Division II teams, student-run club sports, and a wide range of intramurals, there are lots of ways to get moving. If organized sports aren’t your thing, you can work out at the student recreation and fitness facility, Ship Rec, cruise the 13-mile rail trail with our bike share program, or hit the disc golf course, volleyball courts or street hockey rink. Students at Ship receive more than $79 million in grants, scholarships, student employment, and loans each year, and 88 percent of first-year students receive some form of financial aid. Shippensburg offers five types of aid—Shippensburg University scholarships, federal and state grants, federal and alternative loans, work-study programs, and veterans’ benefits.

To apply for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have the results sent to Shippensburg University. The Federal School Code for Shippensburg University is 003326.
