Recurrent themes and key elements identified during the sessions of the Commission on Population and Development Report of the Secretary-General Summary The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 65/234 on the follow-up to the International Conference on Population and Development beyond 2014, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary -General to compile recurrent themes and key elements identified during the sessions of the Commission on Population and Development. The report draws in large part on statements delivered during the forty-seventh session of the Commission, which, in preparation for the special session of the Assembly to be held in September 2014, was devoted to an assessment of the status of implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development. Throughout the discussions, States expressed widespread support for the continuing centrality of the Programme of Action and the key actions for its further implementation, in the period beyond 2014, taking into account the finding s and recommendations of the 20-year review, including for the post-2015 development agenda and the sustainable development goals.
