REFLECTION #14 November 17-21, 2014 This is now week fourteen of Practice teaching. From now on as our cooperating teacher told us, students start missing school because of all the Holidays. This week was Puerto Rican week and around all the schools of Puerto Rico, many activities are done. In Rufino Vigo Monday started with the proclamation that sixth grade girls read form classroom to classroom, while they gave teachers Puerto Rican candy in a cute basket with our Flag on it. My students did not come to school because their teacher had to go to her granddaughter’s operation. Tuesday there was no class because it was a Holiday. On Wednesday there was an activity in the school. Each class had students bring typical food, juices, and candy to share with their classmates. This day was also a disaster. The original plan was that students were going to start school at 7:30 instead of at 8am and they were going to be out by 12 pm. The day before, the Director sent out a letter at 2:30 saying that classes the next day were going to run as usual. The following day, parents were mad because for 28 years, students this day were out by 12pm and a beautiful activity was always held. I overheard parents saying that they were bothered because now their daughters/sons had to be with their activity’s clothes until 3pm, and others were saying they were going to come and pick up their children anyways. Ms. Gina’s homeroom class (6th grade) were all in the classroom waiting for the activity to start, but instead by the Director’s order, they all had to go to their first class as normal and all the food was getting cold and the juices were getting hot. It was by the student’s corporal movement teacher that they had the chance to eat their brunch. The teacher decided to bring them over to Ms. Gina’s class on their recess break. After they ate, they all went classroom by classroom to sing. This day, I also did not give class to my third graders. On Friday
