Don Lee Center welcomes you! Join us and experience “a place that God has blessed.”

Dear Families, This upcoming year will mark 70 years of ministry at Camp Don Lee. As we reflect on the transformative impact the ministry has had on so many lives, we renew our commitment to providing quality programming that allows us to share our love of Jesus Christ through the wind and the water at our beautiful location on the Neuse River. Kate Cooper Metts, Camp Director We are excited to present our summer camp offerings for 2018, along with information about our Environmental Education program, Retreat Programs and several special events in the spring and fall. Don Lee has been serving campers since 1948, sharing the love of Jesus Christ with children and youth in a small group Christian program. Our campers make new friends, grow more confident and independent as they learn new skills like sailing, canoeing, kayaking, archery and outdoor cooking, all the while learning more about God and His creation and growing in their faith. If your child has attended camp in the past, we thank you for sharing them with us; they are a blessing to the camp family and I hope they can join us again this summer. If you are searching for a great summer camp Don Lee Center experience for your child, look no further. We Love Your Camp! After each week of summer camp, we survey our camper parents for feedback on their children’s experience. Here are some responses from summer 2017. “I cannot express just how much Camp Don Lee has meant to our daughter. She has grown spiritually and socially. The self-confidence she has gained through her weeks at camp brings joy to her family. She is already talking about next summer! Thanks for all you are doing for our children!” “Because of the setting and the cultivation of exceptional people to care/ teach/guide the campers, Don Lee has been a rich part of my child’s life for many summers. The most valuable part of the experience, however, is the growth that is nurtured between the campers, one that puts God’s love right in the middle. The relationships my children have forged at camp because of this mission are rare and immeasurable.” “Our son LOVED his counselor! He felt like a part of his group and can’t wait to go back. As a mom, I loved the Bunk 1 pictures and getting little notes, it helped with my anxiety to see that he was clearly having a blast.” Cancellation and Refund Policy: Cancellations and requests for refunds should be made in writing or via email from the person responsible for the account. Refunds will be issued for cancellations prior to May 1, 2018 for one week programs and prior to April 1, 2018 for multi-week programs, less the applicable processing fees, which are non-refundable. The fees are: $75 for one week programs; $150 for two week programs; $225 for Mariners and $300 for LIT. All camp fees for multi-week programs are due April 1, 2018. For one week programs, all fees are due May 1, 2018. All payments become non-refundable after these dates for any reason. Fees not paid by the applicable deadline will open the camper slot for another person to use if needed. There can be unforeseen changes for your camper, so we strongly encourage you to purchase low cost camp cancellation insurance. It is available when you register and we highly recommend it for multi-week campers as the programs are a significant expense for many families. If your camper falls ill, breaks a bone or other emergency incidents, the insurance will refund your camp payments. See more details in Ultracamp when you register.

TWEEKERS

OLDER SAILING TWEEKERS

Completed Grades 6 - 11

Completed Grades 10 - 12

The two week “Tweeker” program is designed for those campers who are ready to step up to the next level at Camp Don Lee. Tweekers get to enjoy all of the great activities camp has to offer such as swimming, canoeing, and archery with the addition of multiple overnight sailing trips along the Neuse River, weather permitting. This camp is ideal for the youth who enjoys sailing, spending the night in tents and cooking outdoors.

This two week high adventure camp will challenge experienced sailors with an exciting trip across the Pamlico Sound to Portsmouth Island. The session will begin with a week of sailing drills, trip preparation and other traditional Don Lee activities. Then, led by experienced staff hired exclusively for this camp, the youth will take two days sailing to Portsmouth Island, spend the night and explore the island, then return to camp. This camp is for 16-18 year olds with some prior sailing experience. It is limited to a maximum of 12 campers. The trip will be contingent on safe weather and no refunds can be made if the trip cannot be completed.

During the two weeks, campers will spend their time enjoying camp activities and honing their skills in preparation for the adventures that lie ahead. The group will set sail for destinations along the Neuse River (we utilize state and national camp grounds) where they will set up camp, prepare meals and experience creation away from everyday distractions. Friendships will be created and participants in this program will grow tremendously from the experiences they encounter on the Neuse River and at Camp Don Lee.
