The Story of VV Minerals, India
VV Minerals is a privately owned heavy mineral mining company based in Tamil Nadu and managed by Subiah Vaikundarajan.
They began their journey in the year 1989, when Mr. Vaikundarajan took over the company from another owner. In the initial years, the company made a turnover of about Rs. 64 Lakh. Now they make over Rs. 500 crore. Within a year, they had set up a garnet processing unit in Keeraikaranthattu, after with a capacity of about 5000 metric tons per annum in 1989. They were dealing with a productive UAE based client for export of Garnet abrasives as the domestic consumption was rather small. Today they produce close to 2,50,000 metric tons per annum which makes them the largest garnet abrasive producer in the world. They also deal with Zircon mining, Rutile mining and Ilmenite mining. From its inception in 1989 this company has significantly diversified into construction, infrastructure, textiles, chemicals, pigments, food and agro businesses progressively. Today Vaikundarajan modest company stands at a Rs. 2000 crore conglomerate. With young manager like V Subramanian, who is the son of Mr. Vaikundarajan, the company continues to grow creating higher prospects for India to excel in the global markets.
