Verdict By The Indian Bureau Of Mines And Department Of Geology On VV Mineral’s Role In Thorium Scam
VV Mineral, a major heavy mineral mining company was accused of producing minerals that were not included in the 'Atomic Mining List'. The accusation was placed on the company by a retired IAS officer, Thiruv. V. Sundaram. Once the complaint was lodged an immediate investigation was called for on the associates of the organziation in Tamil Nadu and Chennai by the government. The inspection took place from 2/5/2013 to 7/5/2013. According to the government of India, ilmenite, garnet, zircon and rutile are not included in the ‘Atomic Minerals’ list. After the whole investigation was over a copy of the report submitted by The Indian Bureau of Mines was made available to various media houses and also the persons concerned with this investigation. The points covered in the investigation were as follows: The inspection complaints made by Shri. V. Sundaram IAS (Retd.) Public Grievances Redressal Forum, Chennai have been examined based on the records and field observation.
