V Subramanian, MD of VV Mineral, is responsible for developing and maintaining the market for Garnet and Ilmenite. A postgraduate in Business Administration from
St Xaviers College, India, he began his professional career in the family’s mining business, joining the management team in April 2002.
Handling Accounts and Finance in the first two years, he was later in charge of a major diversification into the Textile business. Between 2004 and 2008, VV Mineral, V. Subramanian also handled production and projects. With a penchant for investing judiciously in select ventures, Mr. Subramanian played a key role in the takeover of Kilburn Chemicals (now V.V. Titanium Pigments) in 2011, which presently produces Tio2 catering to the Indian market. His philanthropic initiatives include establishing VV Charitable Trust, which assists needy children by offering free education and aids various local schools by facilitating numerous amenities and repairs. V Subramanian says believes the India’s domestic market is very young and has a tremendous potential. Current Indian consumption of pigment is only 1.5kg / person, whereas developed countries typically use 4kg / person. The same trend applies for other minerals like Zircon and Rutile as well. The company is owned by his father Vaikundarajan.
