ATTRACTIONS ALONG THE WAY The tourist drive leaves the highway approximately 2km south of Falls Creek. On the way into Huskisson visit the Lady Denman Heritage Complex and the Aboriginal Art and Craft Centre, browse around the Trading Post for antiques or secondhand goods.

Jervis Bay

The waters of Jervis Bay abound with fish and are home to four pods of dolphins. Regular cruises on Jervis Bay leave from Huskisson Wharf. On Easter Saturday, the White Sand Carnival is held in White Sands Park.

Hyams Beach (est. pop. 122) is a quiet village on the shores of Jervis Bay and is reputed to have the whitest sand in the world. Here you can enjoy a dip in the crystal clear waters of Jervis Bay.

During whale migration season (May to October) whale viewing cruises operate out of Huskisson.

The drive continues to Sanctuary Point (est. pop. 6,282). There are some lovely spots in and around Sanctuary Point for picnics and water sports. One of the highlights is Palm Beach which has a gently sloping beach and is ideal for little kids. Boating of all types takes place here. St Georges Basin Country Club offers a variety of meals and regular entertainment and caters for bowlers, golfers, tennis and squash players.

Nestled on the shores of Jervis Bay, Huskisson is a bustling village which traces its history back to the fishing and boat building industries. The shopping centre has a delightful mix of shops, cafes and two licensed clubs. Continue on to Vincentia (est. pop. 2,816) and situated to the south of Huskisson. Vincentia is predominantly a residential township. However, there are some stunning beaches to enjoy a picnic or take a bushwalk along the foreshores. The waters around Vincentia are popular for all water sports. Visitors are welcome at the 9-hole golf course located on top of the hill. A detour from the drive can be made by continuing along Jervis Bay Road to the Jervis Bay Territory, the Naval College, Botanical Gardens and Green Patch.

St Georges Basin (est. pop. 2,641). There is a small shopping centre which includes the Cooee Hotel. Visit the Basin Gallery. The ‘Basin’ offers swimming, fishing, boating, picnic and bbq facilities – perfect for a great family day out. Boat ramps can be found around the waterways of St Georges Basin and are accessible by reserve. Rejoin the Princes Highway and head north for Nowra or south to Milton.
