ATTRACTIONS ALONG THE WAY The historic town of Berry has retained all the character and charm from yesteryear. Cambewarra Lookout
Berry (est. pop. 1,933) has many shops in preserved or renovated buildings that enhance the old-world charm of the town. Browse around the many craft and antique shops. Sample local wines at the wineries or enjoy a ‘cuppa’ or a meal at the cafes and restaurants. A must do is a visit to the local Treat Factory, where delicious chocolates, preserves and fudge are made on the premises – right in front of your eyes!
It is possible to take a short detour to the right into wellknown Kangaroo Valley at the intersection of the Kangaroo Valley Road and Moss Vale Roads (Don’t be confused because the township of Kangaroo Valley is on Moss Vale Road, not Kangaroo Valley Road.)
The tourist drive commences at the south end of the town and takes you along a scenic hillside climb to Cambewarra Mountain and Lookout and Tea Rooms to view some of the most spectacular scenery of the South Coast. If the wind is right, hangliders may be out sailing! Some of the area’s best gardens line this tourist drive and are open to the public during the Garden Festival in October, or keep your eye out for plant nurseries and delicious local produce.
Bomaderry (est. pop. 6,602) is situated 4km north of Nowra. Bomaderry is the terminus of the NSW South Coast railway line. The area is predominantly a residential area. Visit the many sporting facilities and parks or enjoy a scenic bushwalk. Attractions nearby are the Shoalhaven Zoo, Meroogal Historic Homestead, Shoalhaven City Arts Centre, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at HMAS Albatross, Shoalhaven River Cruises and bushwalks.
