The Award Winning Child Finger Safety Device, primarily for EXTERNAL domestic 2-panel ‘in-line’ sliding patio door systems, suits either LH or RH opening / closing. PLEASE NOTE: ‘Slide Safe’ is not intended for use with similar 2-panel TILT and SLIDE or LIFT and SLIDE Patio door systems. ENSURE: You have read and understood the accompanying product information for the ‘SlideSafe’ Finger-Safety Device. CHECK: You have the correct version of ‘SlideSafe’ for your sliding patio door system. If in doubt please check first with the manufacturer or distributor. GENERALLY: 45mm CRS version suits most aluminium systems 50mm CRS version suits most ‘narrow frame’ (73mm – 110mm O/A approx.) PVCU (plastic) or timber systems 55mm CRS version suits most ‘wide frame’ (120mm – 150mm O/A approx). PVCU (plastic) or timber systems NOTES: A) for 2-panel systems where both inner and outer panels slide open / closed – a suitable horizontal panel stop MUST be fitted (eg. to the frame head or to the closing jamb / lock jamb to prevent inadvertent collision with the device ((especially when the device is held back using the removable Hold Back Pin)) when sliding open the adjacent panel ie. BACK TOWARDS THE DEVICE (Fig. 1). B) for optimum convenience it is recommended that the device is fitted on the inside of the dwelling wherever possible. However, sometimes there may be no option than to fit the device on the outside to obtain protection against the hazard of potentially serious finger crush injury. C) Generally on most external 2 – panel ‘in line’ sliding patio door systems in the UK, it is the outer panel which slides (Fig.2). However, on some similar systems it is the inner panel which slides, in which case it will be necessary to ‘wall-mount’ the device next to the side of the closing jamb / lock jamb or use a suitable fixing block or bracket – neither provided (Fig.3).
