t’s common knowledge that temperatures in Colorado can have extreme fluxuation without much warning. Snow boots and thermals on Monday to windbreakers and tee shirts by Friday. We learn to not only love our Colorado seasons, but embrace creating magical moments within them. I love our mountains, valleys and desert hills. There is beauty everywhere. When I visit somewhere new within our borders, I can’t wait to share it with you. Sharing inspiration that comes from right here, no need to wait till the coast trends find their way to us. Colorado can set our own trends from the very fortunate beauty and lifestyle that surrounds us… our everyday, adventurous, scenic lives. To have the Shop LOCAL Wedding Guide and Down the Aisle online resources used by couples to help plan any part of their wedding, makes me happy. I hope you enjoy this special time in your love’s journey and that your happily ever after is waiting for you after you walk Down the Aisle in 2019.

Settling in Grand Junction, CO in 2014, with her small family, established her bakery business, Simply Cakes by Camberly. She quickly developed networking relationships that added to her creativity and pushed her to work harder than ever to set goals and more importantly to achieve them. Camberly wanted to reach her potential customers in a unique and personal way. Not finding exactly the right fit for her style and budget she found herself envisioning an outlet for small, passionate businesses to reach out to potential wedding planning couples. With the love and support of her husband, Camberly dove in to create and develop a fresh and affordable advertising outlet for others in the wedding industry. But wanting to take it a step further, she didn’t just want to just advertise for these businesses, she wanted to introduce them. Show others the love and passion, hard work and sacrifice these vendors pour into their businesses. The Shop LOCAL Wedding Guide was born. Camberly is excited to meet and “show off” the amazing and talented vendors of Colorado, the gorgeous venues and also to meet with Brides and Grooms looking for inspiration among their LOCAL Vendors.

What if it Rains on My Wedding Day? Advice from a photographer

This is Rachel.

Rachel didn't hire a wedding planner.

She's a little stressed on her wedding day.

(We don't recommend cutting your cake this way. )

Don't be like Rachel.

ne of the most frequently asked questions that I receive during wedding season is, “Sooooo, what do you do if it RAINS?” I want to reassure you that even if it rains, you will still have beautiful portraits and bright colors in your images! Overcast skies mean vibrant colors and no squinting! I know that rain isn’t ideal, and very few couples would wish for rain on their big day, but if it happens, it happens. And it’s going to be just fine! They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, after all. Here are a few things to remember: Take it one step at a time. Don’t think about your entire day and what will happen if it rains. That will only overwhelm you! Have a flexible rain plan for your venue, but then let your vendors do the work of handling the rest of the day. We’re experienced professionals; this isn’t our first rainy wedding! Your rain plan with the venue should be an easy transition - this is Colorado after all. Wait twenty minutes and the weather could be totally different! Make sure your Plan B can be switched back or executed at the last minute. Let me worry about the pictures. You have enough to think about. If there’s a chance of rain, I’ll be sure to do some extra scouting to find a covered location or two for us to use for your first look, creative session, and wedding party portraits. There are so many options for getting great photographs on a rainy day. From the porch of your venue to cute umbrellas, it’s important to have a positive attitude about formals! Some of the rental companies I’ve worked with have beautiful tent options with windows that let in that natural light perfect for portraits, a great option in a pinch. With some flexibility and creativity you’ll still have great images even with rain!

ur first date was sitting in a parking lot overlooking Golden, CO. Not the most obvious beginning to a great love story, but I had no idea that for the next year and a half the adventures would never end. I met one of the most adventurous fun-loving people this world has to offer. Each crazy date we went on and thrill-seeking adventure we would find made me realize this man was the one I wanted to spend all my days with. Every second of our relationship has felt like a movie. Right down to our engagement, up on Loveland pass, in the crazy snow. Brent took me up my favorite hike to the top of the world in Keystone, CO, with a fearless friend wrapped up in a face-covering scarf and ski mask traversing the ridge of the mountain to GoPro our epic day. I’ll never forget that day up on the edge of our cliff. These Colorado mountains have shaped our relationship, and we will never stop exploring them.

Hello, I am lifestyle photographer based out of Golden, Colorado. My passion for photography started at a young age, I started doing film Photography and developing my own photos before I even picked up a digital camera. I still shoot film for fun and have my own darkroom. I never thought that my love for photography would turn into my career, where I get to photograph people in love. It’s so wonderful to know that generations to come will treasure a photograph that I was able to create. Photographing couples in love in places that they love is truly a dream for me. I am incredibly honored that my couples trust and allow me to be part of such intimate moments, moments that they are able to save for a life time. As a photographer I love to create images that embodies real raw emotions in life. I want my clients to just be themselves. As I simply observe with my camera. I am passionate about documenting moments as they naturally happen and letting you feel wild & free to be exactly who you are in front of my camera. I like to focus on the “inbetween” moments. I hope that you laugh without stopping, live with abandon, and love like that’s all there is.

his styled shoot at Cross Orchard Farm Historical site in Grand Junction, Colorado illustrates how transformative the power of design can be in wedding styling. The Bohemian Farmhouse design and rentals teamed with Harlow and Finn Calligraphy, Sweet Kiwi Cookies and Sage Creations Organic Farm to convert an empty historical space into a bohemian dream worthy of the most discerning bride.

From a luxurious outdoor teepee to vintage furniture, hand lettered details and bohemian skulls, every touch was boho chic perfection. Sweet Kiwi crafted black and gold marbled donuts and skull cookies along with a feather adorned cake, while Harlow and Finn’s custom calligraphy brought life to starthemed phrases featured on a beautiful globe and chalkboard. The Bohemian Farmhouse completed the look with details from

geometric shapes to colorful place settings and oversized wicker chairs. Johna Rohn of Indigo Salon styled the bride to perfection with luscious makeup and gravity-defying hair, and the model wore her own gown and pieces from her wedding for a personalized touch. The moody, dreamy feel of the shoot brought out the beauty of this unique historical space both inside and out while showcasing the ultimate in bohemian design.

Curt & Madison Curt & Madison’s Wedding at The Lodge at Needle Rock

P

ulling down the gravel road toward Needle Rock the lodge slowly rose into view, rows of white chairs lining the lawn. I entered the lodge and was led to the girls’ getting ready room where I was greeted by Madison’s excited bridesmaids and a past AMP brides Bobbi doing their hair! It was so much fun to feel the energy in the room and hear about their classic “sleepover” they all shared the night before – including a game of Twister! As for when she knew Curt was “the one,” Madison said, “I just felt it, I felt like I couldn’t live without him and that I saw us starting a family together. I love how much he cares for me and our dogs and how goofy he is. How easily he gets along with everyone and I can tell he will be a great dad one day.” Their wedding at The Lodge at Needle Rock was held on the lawn, Needle Rock towering over the ceremony as the two committed to forever. Madison’s favorite color is pink and anything sparkly, so it was fun to see how she and her wedding planner April put together a glitzy and elegant style with lots of greenery and pink! The big day also happened to be Madison’s birthday, so the whole party sang Happy Birthday to her at the reception. What better birthday present than a husband? Her mom also serenaded the couple with a song composed by one of the guests at the wedding, it was such a cool and moving moment! The party went on to dancing and fun into the night in the coolest round room in the lodge, perfect for a dance floor! Annie & Taylor

Ana & Jordan

Carved Tree Photography

A

nnie and Taylor are a Denver couple who have nothing but love for Grand Junction in their hearts. That is why they decided to return to the iconic Colorado National Monument in Taylor’s hometown to say their vows amidst the breathtaking beauty of Western Colorado and the love of their family and friends.

Carved Tree Photography

“T

he open space and views immediately drew them in as the perfect place for an incredibly intimate elopement. It was just the two of them and the views all around as they exchanged hand written vows and “I dos” on the resort grounds.” –Jordan Perry, Photographer

Annie loves Christmas, and Taylor knew that he’d get a “yes” by putting a gorgeous ring under the tree last year. They celebrated their engagement at home with their dog Levi, and Annie began the search for her perfect dress, which she found at Blue Bridal Boutique in Denver. The couple then made several trips to Grand Junction to round up the rest of their amazing wedding team and bring the vision of their wedding day to life. When the day came, the bridal party made their trek up the monument in an RV and stepped out to perfect blue skies and the rugged natural beauty of the Colorado landscape. After a short ceremony with Dad officiating, they continued the party at a beautifully decorated property in Fruita with views of the monument all around. carvedtreephotography.com Shop LOCAL Wedding Guide

Love Stories

Mark & Rae Amanda Matilda Photography

M

ark and Rae first met on Tinder, a growing trend in wedding couples’ stories these days. They were both living in Denver at the time and it turned out they only lived five minutes away from each other! Rae said of their first dates, “We first met a local bar, called Oblio’s. It was not super memorable as far as first dates go. It was on our second date that we really hit it off!” Mark suggested that they go to the Denver Botanic Gardens to see the Christmas light display, and he totally won Rae over. As for when she knew Mark was the one, Rae said, “Mark had given me the courage to ski this part of the mountain when I hadn’t dared to before, comforting me and encouraging me until I took the plunge. I knew we were sharing in this feeling of exhilaration and awe. That was one of many moments when I was dazzled by Mark, and amazed at who I could be when I had him by my side. He opened a part of me I didn’t know I had.” Mark proposed on their last ever camping trip in Colorado. They had spent the last 3 months apart, and Mark had just gotten a new job offer in Austin, TX. He drove to Colorado the last weekend Rae was in Colorado and they camped near Silverton. Mark proposed as they hiked Ice Lakes and completely threw Rae off by seeming disorganized - but all went according to plan! Finally the day came for them to be married in the mountains, where their journey began and where they fell in love. Rae got ready in a beautiful room at the Beaumont as the groomsmen loaded into a jeep. The wedding party traversed into Yankee Boy Basin and scouted the perfect location; the first traces of fall colors, a beautiful waterfall, and 360 degree mountain views!

KEEPSAKES FOR A LIFETIME OF LOVE Preserve your wedding bouquet in a pressed artwork or as a piece of timeless jewelry.

atie and David are remarkably kind, funny, and gentle people. They are adventurous lovers of the outdoors and knew that the mountains of Colorado were the place they wanted to get married. They are NOT the kind of people who enjoy the spotlight. Which is kind of ironic because they spend their days with the eyes of entire classrooms on them. They are BOTH teachers! As teachers they do so much good and change lives every day, but they prefer to do their good work without accolades or applause. They do it simply for the love of the task and the love of the kids. So when it came to celebrating their own love story they decided to share the spotlight with all of the people who mean the most to them: their families. On this wedding day every guest had a part to play. Instead of a single officiant the whole family took turns sharing wishes and traditional blessings for the couple. After Katie and David shared their personal vows every person in attendance stood to pronounce them married. n the East end of Palisade, Colorado, is a six generation fruit orchard with a history of family, labor and love. In the late 1800’s, James A. Clark purchased 20 acres and planted peaches. Today, over a hundred years later, the Clarks have plowed and labored this land of heritage and now work over 100 acres of fruits and vegetables for distribution across Colorado and the MidWest as well as sell locally at the family fruit stand along the side of Hwy 6.

We were thrilled when the Clark family decided to take on a new venture and build a Wedding and Event Venue on the historic property. Today, the venue stands completed, almost directly across the street from the family fruit stand. This new venue is the perfect combination of rustic charm and elegance, with an indoor space that is suited to meet the decor needs of any theme. Its warm wood beams and neutral color palette make it easy to use

any shade of the color spectrum. Built to accommodate up to 300 guests, with a bridal suite, kitchen, and restrooms it is perfect for weddings in every season.
