• Homeschool Curriculum and Book Swap - Saturday,

Homeschooling families are invited to find good homes for books you’ve outgrown, collect new educational materials for free, and connect with other home educators. From 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., participants are invited to drop off your books and enjoy light refreshments and social time, and from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., participants may select and take home books. This will be a completely free exchange, without strings attached –materials are contributed without condition, and people take materials without charge or condition, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Shopping News composition staff will judge the photographs on composition, technique and originality.

Seed (Longwood Gardens Community Read)Wednesday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. This program will follow the amazing metamorphosis of seeds into the food that they eat. They will focus on life cycles, growing requirements, plant anatomy, and recipes highlighted in the book choices for the 2023 Longwood Gardens Community Read: Black Food: Stories, Art, and Recipes from Across the African Diaspora by Bryant Terry; The Comic Book Guide to Growing Food by Joseph Tychonievich (illustrated by Liz Anna Kozik); and Bring Me Some Apples and I’ll Make You a Pie: A Story About Edna Lewis by Robbin Gourley. For all ages. Participants will have the chance to win four free passes to Longwood Gardens.

• Preschool StorytimeEvery Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers are invited to enjoy themed books, songs, rhymes & movement activities while building language and literacy skills. For ages 3­6 and siblings.

• Toddler ThursdaysEvery Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers will dance, zoom, scoot, and hop between stories selected to promote language development. All adults are expected to participate and encourage the children to join in the fun. For ages 0­3 and siblings.

• Teen Tuesday ClubsEvery Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Join one of their teen clubs that meet on Tuesdays throughout the month! Each week they will come together to explore one of the following topics: STEM, creative writing, arts and crafts, or book discussions. For ages 12 and up. • Knitting Club – No meeting on Monday, May 15. Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m. Knitting Club meets the first and third Monday of the month, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and the last Tuesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Knitting Club is for people who knit and like to share the craft. This is not a class or instruction, just friendly gathering to knit and work on projects. Must bring all your own supplies. Crocheters also welcome. No registration required.

• Lititz Game Club – No meeting on Wednesday, May 17. Wednesday, May 3 at 4:30 p.m. Meets the first and third Wednesday of the month. A place for people to come together and play tabletop games. Whether you enjoy casual games like Uno and Scrabble, gateway games like Catan, Wingspan, and Ticket to Ride, or more strategic games like Scythe and Terraforming Mars, they have plenty of fun games to play. A game library with a wide selection of games is available, but feel free to bring your own (family-friendly) games as well! Their games accommodate players ages 10 and up. No registration needed.

• Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster CountyWednesday, May 3 at 6:00 p.m. Presenters include: Antimatter, The Death of Planet Theia and The Brightest Two Supernova. No registration required.

• Lititz Garden ClubThursday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. Native Perennials with Sinclair Adam. No registration needed.

• Painting Club - Wednesdays, May 10 and May 24 at 12:30 p.m. Meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Bring your own painting supplies. Get together with others to paint and socialize. No registration required.

Kutztown University has conferred degrees for more than 430 students for the 2022 fall semester and 2023 winter session.

Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year.
