Exploring Growing Together Discussion Forum will be meeting Thursdays, September 7 and 14, to discuss “Life as We Knew It” by Susan Beth Pfeffer. They will also meet on Thursdays, September 21 and 28 to discuss “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” by Heather Morris, led by Shanna Boley. They will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room 103 on the lower level of Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 East Market Street.

Bring your lunch to eat during discussion, if desired. Masks are optional to attend. The forum discussion series offers a safe learning environment in which to discuss and explore diverse topics and beliefs with respect to everyone sharing. Adamstown Library Events
Adamstown Area Library hosts a variety of free programs and events for children and adults. These programs are open to everyone, with or without a library card. The library is located at 110 West Main Street in Adamstown, next to the post office. Regular library hours are Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Learn more and register for events at AdamstownAreaLibrary. org.
• During the Summer Reading Theme “All Together Now,” the library is celebrating all the countries from our big, beautiful world. A special display in the Children’s Room asks the question: If you could visit any country, where would you go and why? Be sure to stop in this month to see what patrons have said and to enjoy the “kindness hearts” and lionthemed art in the library.
• Friends Book Sale –
Every Tuesday in the community room. Hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Tuesday except on the second Tuesday of the month, when the sale will end at 5:30 p.m. due to a library program. Open until 7:00 p.m. on August 15, 22, 29; until 5:30 p.m. on August 8.
• Teen SummerZineTuesday, August 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attention writers, are you ready to take your writing to the next level? Would you like to see your work published alongside awardwinning authors? You’ll get to know three Pennsylvania authors who will offer creative prompts and a realtime look at their writing process. • Pool Storytime at Adamstown Community Pool – Wednesday, August 16 at 1:00 p.m. Third Wednesday of the month. Take a break from swimming and join Miss Jess at the Pool Pavilion. Pool entrance fee at discount rate or membership required for entry.
• Wild Edible Plants of Pennsylvania – Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. Join Debbie Naha-Koretzky, “The Wild Edibles Lady,” for a foraging adventure to discover the edible plants of our area. The program will include a slide show followed by a foraging walk. The program will cover plant identification, safety, look-alike plants, sustainable harvesting, cooking with wild plants, and nutrition. Debbie is a registered dietitian/ nutritionist, Rutgers Master Gardener, Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, certified science teacher, and wild foods author. For adults and teens. Registration is requested.
• Summer Movie NightMonday, August 21 at 6:00 p.m. “Jerry & Marge Go Large” (2022-96 minutes)
The remarkable true story of how retiree Jerry Selbee discovers a mathematical loophole in the Massachusetts lottery and, with the help of his wife, Marge, wins $27 million dollars and uses the money to revive their small Michigan town. Rated PG-13.
• The 9th Annual Hit the Links for the Library Golf Tournament happens on Saturday, August 26 at Manor Golf Club, 153 Bran Road, Sinking Spring.
Registration: 12:30 p.m., Shotgun Start: 1:30 p.m., Dinner to follow. There is a cost per person, which includes: golf and cart, driving range, greens fees, lunch, water, tea, beer, soda and snacks, free future golf round, dinner and prizes. • Summer Movie NightMonday, August 28 at 6:00 p.m. “Renfield” (2023-93 minutes). Count Dracula has relied on his assistant, R.M. Renfield, for centuries. One day, Renfield decides to exit this toxic relationship, hoping to start a new life.
Wandering the streets of New Orleans, he meets and falls in love with traffic cop Rebecca Quincy. But Dracula’s control over Renfield’s life is far from over. Rated R.
• Get to know me Better Board – All Summer. Teens, life is hard, and you would not be as great as you are without someone’s guidance and support. We want to know who helped you become a better person and how. Stop in the library’s teen section to answer these important questions.
• Kindness Hearts – All Summer. Inspired by the book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio, we want to know “How did you show someone kindness this Summer?” Write your answer on a heart which will decorate the library during our summer reading theme “All Together Now.” (All Ages).
• Lions Themed ArtChildren up to age 15 can drop off an art piece with a lion theme (paintings, drawings, sticker collages, Legos, etc.) at the library by August 30 and receive a coupon for Boehringer’s Ice Cream. Four winners will also receive a $50 gift card.
Lititz Library Book Sale
Soon the public can enjoy browsing for books and more when our book sale opens on Thursday, September 7, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, September 9, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. $3-a-Bag will begin on Saturday at noon.
This year the library has many fiction and non-fiction books. In addition, the sale will include movies, puzzles, and other unique items.
In addition to the three-day sale, the library maintains a used bookshelf of firstquality items available for sale daily when the library is open.
