Archery Program Enjoyed By Participants
Adamstown Area Library is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a cuttingedge 3D printer, made possible through a generous donation from the Friends of the Library. This exciting addition to the library’s resources is set to revolutionize the way our community engages with technology and creativity.
The 3D printer, a PRUSA i3 MK3S+, will be available to all library users, opening a world of possibilities for individuals of all ages. With its intuitive design, the printer enables users to bring their imagination to life, from small toys, models or games, tools and more.
Shown in the photo with the new printer, from left to right, are: (standing) Carole Evans, Book Sale Chair; Carolyn Reiste, Library Director; Joy Maier, Friends Treasurer; and Laura Russell, Reference Librarian; (seated) Margaret Harting, Friends President.
Funds for library projects such as this are raised through the Friends’ weekly book sales, held every
Tuesday in the library Community Room from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., except for the second Tuesday when it closes at 5:30 p.m. due to a scheduled library program.
The Friends of the Adamstown Library, a dedicated group of community supporters committed to enhancing the library’s offerings, recognize the significance of embracing emerging technologies.
Their invaluable contribution has made it possible
A couple dozen children signed up to take part in a basic archery program that taught basic skills, safety and target practice shooting. The program was presented by Bob Lauffer, who has been instrumental in teaching folks archery for quite a long time in Lancaster County. Bob is shown on the left helping a young archer to place an arrow onto the bow, while others practice their new found skills.
9 9 9 for the library to provide access to this innovative technology, ensuring that the community can explore and develop their skills in 3D printing.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Friends of the Library for their generous donation,” said Reference Librarian Laura Russell.
“This 3D printer will allow us to provide exciting new programs and have people engage with technology in a brand-new way. 3D printing has nearly unlimited potential, and I’m excited to learn alongside members of the community and see everything we can create.”
Adamstown Are Library is committed to empowering individuals to the latest technologies, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering creativity. The addition of the 3D printer further cements the library’s position as a hub for innovation and community engagement.
To have models printed at the library, users can email files to 3DPrinter@ adamstown.lib.pa.us or bring designs on a flash drive. The cost to print is $1.00 per hour. A list of 3D printing resources can be found on the library’s website www adamstown arealibrary.org/3d-printing.
